Just a quickie to let you all know - I am a mummy!

 

Aurelia Halcyon arrived on Friday at 5.35am weighing 7lb 12oz. She is slightly auburn and a little physiologically jaundiced. Apt, given her name means 'golden' in Latin. Halcyon had to be there too, for rhythm, for loving the colours of kingfishers, and wanting a naturey, watery, wild swimmyish name, and then finding out about the Greek myth of the halcyon calming the waters in midwinter.

 

She was due to be ripped untimely from my womb today, but decided it would be far more giggletastic to make me think I'd weed myself all Thursday night before going into a sweary panic realising that I was rapidly going into full-on labour. Which really hurts. Thanks, womankind for making that really clear (Not! Honestly - can't believe I thought a waterbirth would be a good idea. GIVE ME DRUGS!!!) Anyway, upshot was they ripped her out anyway, which was really interesting as an experience.

 

And now I'm a mummy and still haven't uploaded pics to the interweb from my phone, but she's beautiful and I am in love and oh it's exhausting but wonderful. Husband is looking after me well. We are just so smitten with her and each other.
