Quite shocked to get an email from UCAS today saying YS has been unsuccessful for St Andrews Uni  .

He had the requirements for entry and also had an excellent personal statement and reference (according to his year head). I can only think they had so many applicants with way more than the minimum requirements that they've been offered all the places :( . They are saying it's getting harder and harder to get in now :? .

Thankfully, it wasn't his first (or even second) choice but it's still a wake-up call for him. Perhaps he'll now believe me that he needs to work hard this year  .

patsy another lovely avatar. Must do one just I'm not very computer literate - some would say not literate at all. Amazing how Nutella suddenly seems to be healthy isnt it. Ate it by the bucket load in my training days as all we poor student nurses could afford toast n nutella.

Love cooked bananas - yumeee. nice barbequed.

Hi Ali's girls. I stumbled across a website called 'create an avatar'. You just upload your picture, put the size as 80 in the box and it gives you three views to download.

Download your favourite, then save the download. When you open it, I right click and open the image in paint. Then you 'save as' into your picture folder and voila! Ready to upload as your avatar.

There's probably easier methods, that's just how I figured it.

Keep up the good work.

Bluekarin : We had to fight for our DS who is described as borderline dyslexic, and has trouble with his handwriting. Fortunately he is at a boys grammar school who were willing to support him. He was recommended for appraisal by his History teacher in yr9 he also had a son with similar problems and was a great support to James. He now uses a laptop for most subjects and can also use it in exams for his essay subjects. It has given him so much more confidence because he can now get his knowledge down on paper much more easily. It is worth the fight, good luck to you and your daughter.

Had a nasty situation on Saturday afternoon - I had just started some news meds the doc had given me and they had a horrid side effect (have now stopped taking them until I can speak to the doc) it was like I'd imagine a panic attack to be and it lasted about 20 minutes; my heart was beating very fast and hard, I was hyper-ventilating and it felt as if my heart was trying to come up through my throat. Never had anything like that before so I have stopped taking them and will speak to the doc when she's back in tomorrow.

That sounds really awful, and quite frightening for you I would imagine. Did the medication leaflet list those symptoms as a possible side effect :?:

Only a couple - strangely enough it can also be used as a sedative  not that that was what it was prescribed as. I am going to pop into the friendly pharmacy after work for a chat.

I react badly to some medicines - allergic to morphine and other opiate based drugs such as codeine, I am rather 'reactive' to any stimulants and food additives too.

I've just had one eye on the Leveson enquiry, purely because I was too idle to turn it off, and one eye on a report I'm writing for work......anyroad up, Lord Prescott was on. He was hysterical. He doesn't give a damn about what he says and was so refreshingly barmy, I'm beginning to rather like him.
