j00lz_12366
Hi My daughter is house/cat/chicken sitting for us for a couple of days when we go away and I thought I'd put her a goody bag of things as a bit of a treat but that's as far as I got! Shes having a bit of a rubbish time at the minute and feeling a bit down. I thought I'd get her a Lush bath bomb for one of the nights and maybe some chocolate. I cant spend too much but I'd love to make her feel appreciated. Any ideas? Thanks
abwsco
Not sure on you're budget or even if she'd like them but our Home Bargains had these in for £4.99. Probably not a real treat though
j00lz_12366
oohh they're nice! Might have to have a look for those...some for me too! I got her a couple of the Yankee candles yesterday for 39p each as well

j00lz_12366
A DVD's a good idea-theres a good place thats just opened in Manchester I'll look tomorrow.. she's more of a CSI girl tho
ChrisP
I love the strawberry smelling things from the Body Shop. Maybe one of the small travel pots of strawberry body butter or something? So she can papmer herself after using the Lush bath stuff? Orrrr a cheap series box set of CSI if she likes that, from HMV or somewhere similar
LolaLayla
Lip balm, hand lotion. What about something to drink-you could get a variety of hot chocolate sachets (perhaps it's not cold enough for that at night yet!) You used to be able to get cans of chilled coffee which was yummy I don't know if they are still around but I should imagine there would be something similar. I suppose any drinks that she might not have tried would be fun........Think I have gone off the gift bag track Would you be able to lay your hands on any of the little sample bottles of perfume? If you know someone who works in a perfume shop they may be able to get some for you. A glossy mag may be nice, although they can be pricey....perhaps you could get some from friends for her to flick through while she is at your home....just thinking of the sort of items my DD likes ......Oh what about nail things...varnish etc.. Purplemaniacs
What a nice idea to leave her a goody bag. My DD is looking after house, dogs, chickens, giant African land snail and fish for us when we go away hadn't thought of leaving her some treats. Hope you have a good time and your daughter enjoys her treats. Chrissie

Cinnamon
How old is she? Maybe a can of that ready mixed Pimms & Lemonade,or something? If you want a lovely lip treat for her, then Lanolips is newly available here,& it is the most amazing lip balm I have ever tried (& I am a bit of a Balm junkie) Boots & some supermarkets also do nice little travel sizes of products, which look cute & are a lovely way to sample things. Also the new Spa range of toiletries by Champneys, available at Boots,is just scrummy! Some gorgeous iced Cupcakes would be nice too.
pips_pekins
Sorry to hear your daughter is having a rubbish time at the moment. What a lovely thought to leave her a gift bag. Maybe you could include a face mask, some travel size bottles of special hair products and a funky coloured nail varnish so that she can have a pamper session. Whilst she is waiting for the face mask she could sip a small bottle of something and eat a few chocolates Lush do lovely lip scrubs and balms. http://www.lush.co.uk/shop/product/category/path/154_165/handmade-lip-balms-and-scrubs Also, what about a small photo album with a few old family photos - perhaps you could add some captions etc.
j00lz_12366
wow, i'm really impressed with all the brilliant ideas, i've added them to my shopping list for today I'm def going with a DVD-there are quite a few kids ones that she loves watching when they come on tv-shes 20 but she got a copy of Hocus Pocus for Christmas-her favourite film ever! I'll see what I can find in the sales and get her some goodies for while shes watching it-we've also left her quite a few films on the tv recorder thing to keep her going. I'll see what nail varnish etc I can find and leave her my nail varnish remover too-as she wont think to bring it with her. I know I'm biased but its horrible to see one of your kids becoming quite low when theres nothing you can do-its what I'm finding hardest, that I cant solve things for her

The Dogmother
If you're going for CDs then try your local Cash Converters - ours stocks them for a quid each (second hand but not that you'd know it). I don't watch them but Phil is a fan.

I was in our Oxfam shop this morning and was thinking what a great selection of DVD's/CD's they had.
kazmac
What about a 'girls night in' goodie bag? A mini bottle of wine, a bath bomb, mini box of Lindor chocs or a bag of Thorntons chocs. That wouldn't cost that much but would ensure a nice relaxing evening for her.

I'm hoping so I ended up getting her4dvds: both bridget jones, love actually and about a boy-99p each in new cd/dvd shop Lush sparkly 'space girl' bath bomb cos she cant use them at home without risking the wrath of her dad-cos theyre messy Some bright pink nail varnish, tv/scandal mag individual strawberry cheesecake (in fridge) and going to get her one of her childhood faves-tin of macaroni cheese..and a caramac! (not together) thanks all

Chook n Boo Mum
You sound a thoroughly lovely mum ...........the goody bag is a brilliant idea & such a thoughtful selection! It's very hard when someone close is low & you can't actively do anything to sort it, but being there is almost as important........as Chucky Mama said love & support will get you all through to the brighter times {{hugs}} Have a good break xx
whoopsie
What a wonderful idea x My mum made me a hamper once when I was ill and it was getting near Christmas - it was so thoughtful.
pips_pekins
Very good picks especially the Caramac - my favourite too when I was younger. Hope she is soon through this low patch. It must be so hard for you to see but she is lucky to have you there and just knowing that can be a big help. I hope you have a good couple of days away. j00lz_12366
She's (just) v low because she isnt working, she was classed as SEN at school because she has probs with her spacial awareness-pattern forming etc which sounds v minor, but actually pretty much everything is made up of patterns-think of how many words have patterns in them that help you remember what they are and how they are spelt-should, would, could being a prime expample, patterns in numbers etc-times tables, adding 9 to a total (add 10, take away 1), these are all things she really struggles with-in other words the basics. With no real training and v little experience and the job situation as it is she is finding it v hard. Add to that she lives with her dad-nasty break up and he manipulated her into staying by getting her more pets so that when I went into rented accomodation she wouldnt be able to come too. I have now moved in with my partner who she really gets on well with but his house is tiny-big enough for the 2 of us, but no spare bedroom for her-and her boyfriend who her dad has allowed to move in...nice lad but again he only has a contract to work 10 hours a week at a local supermarket-sometimes he gets more but cannot be relied on so theres no option of them moving out and renting. Her dad really is a nasty piece of work and I can see him playing her like he did me and luckily I can point out what hes doing to her and sympathise (more than I had when I lived with him and he was mentaly and physically abusive to me) Anyway, she has a job interview on friday-I am not being mean but I really dont think she stands much chance-its her first interview, they havent shortlisted just accepted everyone who wants an interview on a forst come first served basis...I so want her to get it-its in the town I live in now-would be over an hour each way for her but we have said we will set up a bed in the office for her so she can stay as often as she wants to minimise her travel time (and expense) We are looking at putting this house for sale and geting something larger when the work is finished (just the bathroom to go-done the whole house) and the houses we are looking at are much bigger with at least 1 or 2 spare rooms..so heres hoping.. Mum
Really sorry to hear she's having a hard time :( Love your idea of a goody bag for her. Maybe, just to make it a little bit more fun (and not putting all her "eggs" in one basket ) you could turn them into a treasure hunt? For example, you leave one or two items out for her and each item then has a clue added so she can find the next item and so on? Guaranteed to take her mind off any worries for a while. You could put inspirational, motivational quotes on the clue slips too, just to perk her up and make her smile She could keep those long after the cheesecake is eaten and the bath bomb has dissolved. I did this back in the day when I had young children and was particulalry hard up but they needed some new clothes. Instead of just giving them to them I hid them and put out clues for them to find. Made getting new clothes more interesting for sure
