Tiggy
I know its sounds very odd but it was a lovely day, Ive never seen so many people 400 in the end, all the pews full and standing in the iles (sp) even crowded into the porch at the front of the Church. rosie had asked her friends not to dress in black but come along dressed for a night out. It was beautiful, girls in party dresses lads in nice suits and bright shirts, white horsdrawn carriage with white horses and pink pommels We sang morning has broken and listened to Bob Marley and left the church to 'always look on the bright side of life' typical rosie. afterwards My Mom met up with people she hadn't seen for years and family members she thought she had lost forever. funny old world. Plus I got to drive OH brand new car Edited September 20, 2011 by Guest

Seagazer
I'm glad it went well, sounds like a lovely send off, it is often so much harder with younger people. I like the idea of wearing brighter clothes or as Rosie had going out clothes.

Ain't Nobody Here
Your description and the article both brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful girl she sounds and what a lovely way to send her off .
Purplemaniacs
Your description and the article both brought tears to my eyes. Me too, so sad when such a short life ends. It sounds like a very special day, to remember and celebrate the life of a very special young lady. Thinking of you. Chrissie
soapdragon
Gosh, what a 'send off'; I rather get the feeling that Rosie would have approved!!!?? Hope everyone does the same for me when the time comes I have always felt that funerals, whilst obviously very sad, should be something of a celebration of the life lead and love for the person concerned too. Love to you.
kazmac
How lovely. Funerals should be about the person who's gone and their wishes should be abided by as far as possible. It makes the funeral much more personal to them. We went to the funeral of a friend's stillborn baby a few years ago and they'd asked people not to wear black but instead to wear bright clothes - my husband and I were the only ones who did and everyone else was in black. We felt really stupid. I'm sure Rosie would have been quietly approving somewhere since everyone did what was asked. What a lovely tribute. We felt really stupid. Everyone else should have felt stupid, not you! Bright colours at a funeral, especially that of a young person, I think is a great idea. Celebrate the life they did have, rather than mourning the passing.
