I think everybody.....(Sad update)

Recommended Posts

should have a Marigold chicken in their life.

That chicken just oozes happiness. She never ceases to cheer me up. I love the way she runs towards me then slams on the brakes, coming to a skidding stop on her heels, before turning round and going to fetch her latest prize to show me. Oh Marigold, how lovely a frog Oh dear, someone has stolen it off you......hey no worries, you have another one over there, oh how lovely She does so love this rain

She is just a feathered body of cheerfulness. She is just great

I just loved reading this , never mind a "Marigold" , all my girls make me feel like this. I have only had my GNRGNRPP 3 months and my prospective of things have changed...I love all their antics and come before a new pair of shoes anytime

Who else would i trudge down the garden for in a dressing gown and slippers to say hello to at 6.30am in the morning :?::lol:

Here she is being a weather vane, she is nothing if not versatile.

When I first had her, she was with Millie, my old ex batt and they just roamed the garden and Marigold was like a little dog, just following me round. Now she lives with 3 others, I can't let them roam as they wreck the garden so she is more chicken than dog, but she still a wonderful happy girl, full of personality.

The only thing she doesn't like is snow, you have to carry her then as she won't get her lovely dainty feet cold.

My daughter who was not at all interested in the girls at first could be seen in the pouring rain last week digging up worms for them and has to come and visit on a weekly basis just to have a fix.

Marigold looks just like my PP Clover , unlike my GNR who waddle ,she walks with her head held high like a lady should :)

Marigold and Xena sounds absolutley adorable, very much like my Flo, who is the most friendly chicken we have ever had, and is currently sat on the kitchen windowsill chatting to me.

Flo's friend recently passed away, and we need to get her a new feathered friend, it sounds like a suffolk noir would be just the hen!

I've done a quick search to try and find a breeder, which didnt come up with anything, would you mind telling me where you got your suffolk noirs from? Thanks! :D

That's the wonderful Marigold. She is a Suffolk Noir

WOW!!! I was just about to reply about my Xena (chatty, always replies to me, friendly, my happy gardener) and guess what... she's a SUFFOLK NOIR!

Well, there's two glowing recommendations for my next hen :D

I searched this post out, as I think it is the perfect post to let you know that sadly the wonderful, bonkers Marigold was painlessly put to sleep this morning.

She was unwell about 4 weeks ago, and had a course of antibiotic injections, which improved things but she still wasn't her old self. She seemed ok though, until Tuesday this week, when she went downhill again, but much harder and faster.

She came in this morning and I gave her a warm bath. She ate some cat food, which I am not sure was a good idea but she enjoyed it, but then she just stood with her head sunk into her shoulders and her tail down, for an hour and I knew it was time to say goodbye.

My vet was lovely and kind and agreed I was doing the right thing in letting my girl go.

I can't quite pluck up the courage to go up the garden and just see red girls.

Fly free lovely bonkers girl, thanks for the laughs :(:(
