Groovychook
I lost my Mum last night. She was a very special person, always so full of life and a pleasure to be around. She was loved by everyone who ever met her and touched the lives of lots of people. Her B&B guests were treated like members of the family and always returned time after time- lots of them became close friends. She liked nothing better than looking after people and making them feel welcome. Three years ago, she suffered a couple of minor strokes and then had to undergo a double heart bypass. She battled back to health and we thought she had made a good recovery, but she had been feeling unwell again since the spring. She'd had another couple of mini strokes in May and was finding it difficult to recover. She had lost her speech and use of her right arm and leg- so cruel for a woman as active as my Mum. We then found out five weeks ago after a brain scan, that she had a terminal brain tumour. We decided that it was kinder for her not to know and carried on looking after her at home with the aid of a team of amazing carers. Mum's last weeks were difficult but she had her family around her. It wasn't all doom and gloom, we had lots of laughs and cuddles and let her be in no doubt how much we all loved her. She deteriorated further a week ago and finally slipped away on Wednesday night - we were all with her. I am devastated. I was very close to her and the last few months have been completely devoted to her care. I have rarely thought about anything else. She will leave a huge whole in our lives and I will miss her dreadfully- can't imagine life without her in it. Thought I'd post a lovely photo of her and Dad, taken on a holiday we shared with them last September... Sleep tight Mum. xxx

chuckmum6
I am so very sorry to hear about your mum. I lost my mum was a year ago, due to a blood clot, caused by her being half paralysed after a massive stroke. She too was very active and should have had 15 - 20 years ahead of her. Strokes a so cruel, I am so sorry for you and your family, I was where you are a year ago, and it is very hard. I cannot comprehend my mum has really gone forever and I miss her every day. Thinking of you, I'm sure she realised how very much she was loved by you.
