Alis girls
YS presented me with his list written on a humongous bit of A3 paper the list wasnt long but wasnt sure why it was on such a big sheet of paper. Have folded it 6 times to get it in my bag. My friends daughter did the same - she said half the stuff she had never heard of. How times have changed. sighs heavily. Oh well back to the shops. Looney
Thank goodness my son can't write well enough yet to make a long list! And my daughter is too young to understand Christmas yet
CatieB
At least you got a list....This year there was no indication from DS what he would like so we nagged, cajoled and begged him for hints. Eventually he declared he knew what he would like and said he had a list but wouldn't be telling us what is on it. Interesting!!!!
HarrisonFamily
My 2 children have to a few things by the 1st December.....after this there can be no changes and my lovely daughter said we should have only 3 presents each as that is how many the wise men bought Jesus....I am sure this will change as they get older..... Cooks
kids crack me up Catie, that's made me laugh out loud. Mine are very clear now being 15 and almost 17 one asked for the iPad mini and the oldest asked for money to buy clothes. ... Easy shopping for me this year. I did panic at the iPad mini being out of stock though, but I have one now they will still get little items but other than that, that's it! Years gone by I used to get lists with the page and item number the item was in the argos catalogue
LolaLayla
YS would like ipad mini but looks as if it will need to be after Christmas as the shops don't seem to have them OH says online is showing delivery after Christmas. This brings back memories of trying to get Tracy Island for ES many years ago
Cooks
Did you try The apple Store online? That's where I bought my sons. Oh had a telletubby (spelling?) nightmare years ago hunted everywhere!!
Ain't Nobody Here
I've got a Tracy Island in the attic you can have . Mine are sorted . YS doesn't seem to want anything so I've got him a rucksack for hillrunning and a hoody. He's already had some clothes and hilllrunning trainers. ES is getting a beard trimmery thing (not that he has a beard ), a heated clothes airer and a running top. I'm going for Christmas-lite this year . The usual calendar and some choccies for their stockings, but that's it.
TheGirlsMum
My word.....just looked at price of ipad minis, my two aren't getting that much spent on them......Can't say what they are getting as they tend to sneak in here.
Cooks
Yes they are not cheap but I do not buy them anything through the year so I do spend more on them at Christmas, but this is lite for me normally I buy throughout the year and put things up etc but I stopped myself this year. chickencam
I have spent the day pacing the pavements with 3 lists in hand and the evening ordering other stuff online. We spend quite a bit at Christmas because we sell their unwanted items on ebay on the run up to Christmas and this money is spent on them and us and it gives us nice balance for buying things on ebay for the rest of the year. DS never asks for pocket money so he always gets more in terms of value at Christmas, he can't be bothered with shopping for himself, so he eventually gives us a list just before Christmas. The Dogmother
Youth of today .What wrong with a socking with a satsuma, lump of coal and a spinning top! Same here, we don't do an expensive Christmas at all. In fact last year Rosie and Phil were both skint so they gave me the gift of Time and I had two days (one from each of them) when they would do everything for me so I could relax and do what I wanted; it was the most wonderful present and Phil did a whole day of DIY for me after bringing me breakfast in bed. For me that was a luxury beyond cashmere socks and the like.
Griffin
I insisted on lists from my girls, Mollys was my favourite, it only had four items on it, two of which were a pad of plain paper & some coloured pencils

soapdragon
I am dreading the stage when the boys get into the technical items - ES did ask for a DS last year but, on further questioning, it became clear that he didn't actually know what one was but had just heard about it at school! Needless to say,he didn't get one ! This year ES has asked for some handwriting pens and YS is desperate for a Duplo car wash. Thanks to E-bay both are sorted! No doubt YS will immediatley notice that the car wash is in a Clarks shoe box not the correct packaging but I will tell him that an elf sat on the oringinal box! These are FC presents but we are adding a flask for ES so he can have a cup of tea with his packed lunch at school (he is 8!!!) and some Lego minifigs for YS with a little carrying case. Also got a Racing Granny game brand new whilst trawling the local charity shops recently - two clockwork Grannies with walking frames which you then race! I have a feeling this will be the big hit as they are both a bit odd We are so lucky that other generous freinds and rellies give them presents too so don't want them to get into the habit of having huge mounds of stuff - after all its all got to be stored somewhere after the big day! ES has, in the past, presented us with a list with the appropriate catalogue numbers on but, as this was all stuff like jigsaws, a sander and hammer, we decided not to go down this route! I love Dogmother's 'two days of time present' from Rosie and Phil - in the light of recent inflation could this be extended to TWO days each this year!?? The Dogmother
Grandpa just rang to ask Rosie what she'd like for Christmas and she came up with 4 things... apparently my niece and nephew wrote pages!
Valkyrie
DD copied out most of the Argos catalogue in her list to Santa one year! Footbath being the most peculiar thing that a 9 year old ever asked for! Much better this year. She hasn't asked, but we've got her a better Tom Tom for her car. DS would like a suit for work - and some ties.
TAJ
DD wrote about 6 things, but that a joint 18th birthday & Christmas list, mainly books for English Literature at school! Tracy
