Ain't Nobody Here
OH said yesterday, "you've not got me anything for Christmas, have you?". "Err, yes", I said. "Well, you'll have to tell me what you want then", he replied. He's not one for thinking deeply or spending time browsing in shops . I'm struggling to think of anything I want or need (or don't need) . I don't do makeup, perfume or girly stuff so I know I'm hard to buy for. I could just go clothes shopping for myself but it seems a bit pointless doing that just for the sake of it. Any bright ideas, oh clever Omleteers ? Willow
Bit expensive but why not ask him to book you both a long weekend away?
The Dogmother
That'd have my vote too. WE are strapped ro cash again this year, so Phil is giving me a day or time... he will do whatever I want for that day... be it bringing me breakfast in bed, or chopping wood. Thing is, he isn't able to get away from his folks' farm at the moment, so I he hasn't been able to honour the day he gave me last year. patsylabrador
I recently asked for classy glass bottles, diffuser reeds and fragrant oils. A fragrant kit to make the house smell nice. I like to experiment with the different oils. It is a strange compulsion of mine to have a consistently pleasant smelling house. A weird hang up from my previous job. Ain't Nobody Here
The long weekend away is a nice idea but last year we decided to try and go away for long weekend citybreaks at Easter and Autumn time so we're already doing that . Not sure a day of OH's time would be worth much - lovely bloke but not particularly handy . Hope you can get your day soon, DM, once the family crises have settled down . Valkyrie
Well at least yours is happy to get you something. Mine says "just to remind you we aren't getting each other any presents again this year." Well suits me fine! I have all the watering cans I need from him in the past. So I have got myself a silicone sheet thing for my sewing machine so I can practice machine quilting - when I get at my machine that is. For himself he's bought the Rockford Files series. It used to irritate me that he couldn't even think of the things I would like, but now it's more convenient for me. So now it's just the birthday present after Christmas - hang on a mo, why am I bothering with that? He doesn't even give me one of those either!!!! Daphne
I've just been looking on the special offers bit (discounts and 2 for 1) of an 'experiences' website and I have found the perfect present for me which I shall inform my mother about and I know she will be delighted to give me the chance to do something I want to do, rather than try to second guess what I'd like. I am very excited, so maybe it will work for you as well
Alis girls
I'll settle for our missing cat coming home.
sparkysmum
A photoshoot session either you & OH or maybe family! I think groupon has some special offers right now. Think they might even do makeovers ( not that you need one!!!!) just for the event. I have a couple of studio photos from when the children were wee and love them I keep asking for Hilly running socks but requests seem to fall on deaf ears Ax
Olly
I'll settle for our missing cat coming home. So sorry Ali. Fingers crossed for you. I don't know how much you spend on each other, if money were no object I'd like to receive one of these in my stocking (metaphorically ) hotbin compost bin. Otherwise I think I'd ask for time, whether it's spending a day out together, time to help with the garden, maybe taking over the chicken duties for a long weekend so that you can go away with a friend? Lewis
It's difficult for me this year because of living abroad I'll have to bring everything back in my suitcase with not much room. I've asked for a Bluetooth speaker, some American sweets I always see online but never tried, new shoes and pyjamas
Ain't Nobody Here
Some nice ideas, thanks everyone . I'm going to ask YS to get me some Hilly socks, Alli, they look just the job for my cross country races .

Purplemaniacs
In the past we have said we are not buying things just things for the children but we always end up getting each other something. I write a Christmas list with links to websites which I send out to OH, DD and DS. Top of my list is a pair of donkeys and a field I hope you get something nice. JellyBean2605
Oh dear, now I'm embarrassed! My hubby always buys the most thoughtful pressies But I never have a clue what to get him! He just buys stuff without thinking of Christmas so there's never anything left he wants! I got him Star Wars on blue ray last year which was a stroke of genius because it got to a week before and i couldn't think of anything. This year he's got Fargo on blue ray because we both loved that, but I was really annoyed when he brought himself a new watch, that would have been ideal! Space Chick
Hubby and I don't buy each other presents. My sister, however, gets me the Extraordinary Chickens calendar every year and I just LOVE it
chickencam
My husband is also very good at gift buying, he loves to shop which is unusual in a man. He has also been the main breadwinner for most of our marriage so he will spend money whereas I always feel awkward spending what I see as his money on things that I am not sure he wants. The past couple of years have been ok because he has told me pretty much what he wants and being expensive items, I haven't had to top it up by much.
