Happy New Year PL and all other Omleteers. My goal is to get to the end ! I am going to try and walk more with the dogs, even though we have both taken early retirement by the time we get the boys off to school and tidied up the moment has passed. Crazy I know,we have the rest of the day. Resolution is to get out for a walk, then do the dishes.

I have what I think are resolutions ie keeping up with more practical things like learning Japanese and German and my fitness but I also have dreams. I really want to go back to Japan and I really want to go to America. It would be amazing to achieve those this year but they really are dreams.

I'd love to read more Tolkien and learn Elvish and prepare more for the Zombie Apocalypse.

Good luck, CatieB.

I don't make New Years resolutions. I set myself goals, but usually do that around my birthday in November. I'll be starting the New Year by doing my accounts  I'm celebrating a full year of being self employed and not actually starving!

Happy New Year to all on here, whether frequent posters or occasional - yet again this forum has been a great source of advice and entertainment.

I don't make resolutions, as a rule, but this year I've set myself a few goals. I want to do more with my sewing and with my papercrafting business and try to make them a small business so that I can get out of the NHS rat race. At 51, I've had enough!

If not, I want to be more organised with both at least :?

I also want to get better at pushing myself forward with my business and advertise more :)

My only plan has been changed from "publish one book" to "publish two books", as I didn't get the one done this year. I also need to finish all the up-cycling projects I have been doing... and sell the damn things!

I've also made the resolution to tell more people where to go. I'd read that Helen Mirren said she wishes she used the words "**** off!" more, and I feel that may be a good philosophy.

Also the company my partner works for is European and they have announced internally that they *might* move the part of the company he works for back to Germany depending on what happens over the next 6 months, so we discussed whether we'd move.

I speak German, and I also quite like Germany so I'm open to it - admittedly the bit we'd be living in isn't the nicest part of the country, but at least it has some stuff going on and we already have friends living there. Naturally I have asked why he can't go and work for a company on the Med. instead! So you never know, maybe we'll be moving again next year! :wall:

Happy New Year from me too!

Yes, I am more of a goals person......usually I set myself several so that, if I don't actually manage all of them, I don't feel too bad! Weight has crept up a bit this year...having not altered diet or lifestyle (honestly  ) I am guessing its down to the fact that I am 52  So I want to shift half a stone before we toddle off to Prague mid Feb...by the by that was another goal for next year - taking the boys on a trip abroad so one off the list already

I've found an excellent 4 mile walk very close to home so will be planning to do that at least once a week with a friend as well as the usual stepper. I would like to do the undergrad certificate in Archeology (sp  ) ....I have the application and need to find out about the cost etc so will be getting on the 'phone in the New Year. Other than that, as Grandmashazzie wisely said, to get to the end of it would be an achievement and one that I'd be happy with

Hoping 2017 is better than 2016!

Planning to resume losing weight, I put it on when stressed so a friend got me to go to slimming world with her a month or so back. I didn't worry over Christmas but restarting today.

Planning a family trip to Japan this year, started planning our itinerary so any suggestions on things we must do/see gratefully received

I'll continue my resolve to see more friends and cousins

Finally finished house renovation last year so this next year will focus on the garden

I'd like to add writing a book to that list but that may be a project for the autumn when YS goes to uni

Bit late to the party....but Happy New Year all :D

My main goal is to recover from the flu which OH, myself & YD have been down with since Boxing Day :(

We had both lost weight and gained a good fitness level pre Christmas, we want to regain the fitness when we can do more than crawl from bed to sofa and back again.

Another goal will be to prevaricate less

Ditto ditto a bit late! And hugs to luvachicken organiser extraordinaire.

I've been diving into my new regime which is to complete more quilts and use up my stash of fabrics - or a fair bit of it at least. So far DD's quilt is under way (not the hand pieced one - as much as I love hand sewing - and is my preference - it is a lot slower and I'm hitting a mental block, although I keep taking it out and umming and ahhing. So what to do next - dive into a mystery quilt thing, a block of the month type of thing but it's a solstice quilt along - so one block a week - I can manage that! And my chicken quilt that I bought last year - already sliced and sewing away. If I carry on the way I've been today it should be done by the weekend!

Next the garden must be cleared up properly - and DH and I will be tackling that pronto. At the same time I must finish the decorating and get the electrician to sort out our lights. Carpet eventually to be done and then 2018 the house goes on the market.

Not much pressure there is there!

Thank you :D

I'm just wondering what needs organising next

Ummm, my understairs cupboard :shock: If you are at a loose end, you know, not much on etc :wall:

I was thinking on similar lines about my own house but it seems I am better suited to organising swaps

So far one quilt top virtually done except borders, more fabric being cut up from stash, intended to rearrange sewing room, ended up sewing.

We have decluttered a few items and not made a dent. Made a list of things to do and emptying the freezer by eating lots of soup made last year. So far so good. Even if we have got sidetracked a bit!
