Lockdown

Recommended Posts

I'm doing two things with the twins during lockdown. The first which is far more interesting than we expected. We thought it would be good but it's quite eye opening and quite absorbing. It's to virtually visit every country in the world alphabetically. I find the national dish and try to find a street food video, the others find out how earthquake /volcanic each country is and their ancient history. We're only in the 'A' s. Tomorrow is Antigua and Barbuda so I've looked ahead and we're going to have Jerk chicken and rice.

The other thing is the 30 day music challenge which is all over the Internet. That's also more fun than I expected.

Nice to see that picture of a bench without police tape all over it, PL! The park looks lovely and very relaxing. Beautiful planting too.

I went for a walk this morning without my crutch  it felt sooo good! I can't wait to be doing proper walks again. We have a lovely circuit of the village along lanes which is lovely (until you get to the pig field;sorry porkers!) and I used to do it regularly. I do so miss a good, brisk walk - nothing like that stretch on the inner thigh muscle to know that you are getting a good 'walkout'!

Oh dear Alisgirls 😂 I’m going to give it a try soon but I won’t be surprised to get exactly the same result.

I made pasties for the first time yesterday (very embarrassing really seeing as I was born here 😊). Really tasty, but I made my normal shortcrust pastry and it was WAY too soft and delicate. Will try again next week! That’s cinnamon buns made from scratch with croissant dough and pasties I’m working on now. No wonder we’re putting on weight! And I made pizza’s for dinner tonight 🙄

One thing worrying me is the number of people posting online who have bought hens 'for Covid' without any thought for, or knowledge about, their needs in terms of housing, husbandry etc. One (genuine) post was of someone who had turned a wheelie bin on its side, cut a hole in it and was keeping hens in that. These people are posting that they will dump them as soon as lockdown is over.... I foresee a huge number of hens being dumped in a month or so, when we're all allowed out again.

I don't understand - you can buy eggs in the shops!

I don't know how people cope with being shut in for weeks? We've been stuck inside for all but a few hours in the last two days because of rain, another day tomorrow and I have to admit I'm going nuts! All the rainy-day jobs have been done and we can't go out to get materials to do any more; they are not essential supplies unless you are a tradesperson. Dog walking next, but that's on our own land.
