Griffin
Miracle of all miracles I've had such a nightmare of a time with humidity and by day 15 I was down to just 6 eggs from 18. Yesterday was day 21 (well in truth I guess it was 20 because I didn't set the eggs until late at night on the Saturday) and one pipped at another was being very vocal. It was such a relief because I was convinced they were all dead. I'd already made arrangements to collect some more fertile eggs today, I wanted more ASAP to keep these two company if they survived or equally just more so I could get it right next time. One of the ones I thought was dead pipped and hatched within about two hours this morning! That was a lovely surprise. A beautiful yellow & grey chick. Had to go out to collect the eggs (bought 6 Light Sussex & 6 mixed large fowl eggs) and while we were out two more pipped! Yesterday I thought I was lucky to have two chicks on their way but now I'm facing having five! This is just wonderful and makes the stress of the past three weeks so much more bearable. Only now I'll have more chicks than I intended to I'll need to build some temporary accomodation for when they've outgrown the brooder I have. I've never built anything so this should be fun Two more chicks have hatched this evening, one from an olive green egg and one from a blue egg. Haven't a clue what any of them are as they're from a mixed flock but I don't suppose many breeds lay dark olive green eggs. Will update with pics soon! BeckyBoo
Very very cute, hearing that cheeping is just the best sound! Did the one with the brown stripe come from the blue or green egg, as she looks a bit like my Cream Legbar chick did. They change so fast, can't wait to see the next set of pictures BeckyBoo

Feather sexing suggests it's a girl. We'll see........ One of the black ones came out of a dark olive green egg. I'm wondering what that might be? Griffin
Todays video! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SMoCXJnEANI Little boy, Paxo, wasn't in the video today because he couldn't be bothered to wake up. Typical Feather sexing suggests the rest are all girls which would just be amazing.
Seagazer
I don't know if I'm getting chick envy or broody - so sweet. I loved hearing your own little chick in the background as well
feemcg
Black chick from an olive green egg.......Could it be a Shetland?........I'm rubbish at feather-sexing.......yellow head spots often indicate males though.
craftyhunnypie
Could the one from green egg be a black Araucana? It may even have some silkie in it. They are all lovely. Pale = male dark= female. (head spots). The stripey one has a dark head spot, so I think girl. Well done, they are adorable! Emma.x
