stehaggan
mmm that cordial looks very nice... the flowers i found i dont think were elderflower.. they looked similar but had small brownish hairs on them and didn't really smell of much other than a plant :-S the search goes on
Old Speckled Hen
A large handful of wild strawberries..........yum I'm looking forward to the elderflowers. Pity you can't make anything with red clover and buttercups The fields are awash. My first tomato may be ready to pick by the weekend
docsquid
So far we've only had successional salads (now need to re-sow a couple of rows of these), broad beans and courgettes. Elderflower is late this year, but hoping for some in the next week or two. We have six tomatoes coming in the greenhouse, so should have these ready soon. Also blueberries coming along nicely! Every where I turn in the garden there is a hen behind me mithering for me to move a pot or dig somewhere so they can grab any beasties xxxx Even Fleur and Tufty the new ones are tame now. Sometimes a bit too tame lol xxx

blackgold
Have you eaten the eggs from my girls yet Steve? Have a look at the pins bones as I showed you too. If the gap is wide enough egg laying is imminent xxx
Christian
does anyone have the best suggestion what to make with them - cordial, wine?? etc what is the best recipe. Take a look at the topic Stehaggan *Elderflower bubbly and cordial* The cordial is wonderful and keeps for ages in the fridge. Make sure you steralize the bottles. I have a bottle from last year that is still ok.
stehaggan
Hi Sue, The eggs were gorgeous, we made a tuna nicoise salad (all the salad from the allotment) and your eggs nicely boiled with a runny yolk mmmmm. We did the bone test as soon as we saw them after your hen party they all seem to be wide enough. Also they have been leaving what looks like yolk on some of the hardwood chips so i'm keeping my fingers crossed x And i have just checked out the elderflower recipes so will have a go at making some today or tomorrow
henriette
"Stole" baby new potatoes from our Amandine crop for dinner last night. They were really, really scrummy The whole plants aren't completely ready yet, but prefer to take a few little ones from time to time. sunshinesupernova
pile of rocket and baby spinach leaves for salad. I can see tiny tiny yellow fruits starting to form on my courgette plants ! Won't be long and instead of gettin impatient waiting for them, I'll be trying desparately to get rid of the excesses ...
chickencam
2 large ice cream tubs worth of strawberries, which we had with whipped cream and clotted cream after lunch, enough for very generous helpings for 7 people and enough for my breakfast this morning too. We have some lovely globe radishes at the moment too and loads of lettuce. I also have a courgette ready to pick.
Lesley
Over the weekend we picked cabbage, chard, spinach, leeks, peas, new pots, lettuce, rocket, rhubarb, strawberries and fresh garlic. We have a couple of tomatoes almost ready - which surprised me because most of my seeds were sown late (again) this year! All the herbs have gone mad - I'm freezing as much as I can in ice-cube trays with a drop of water.
chickencam
Another huge batch of strawberries and loads of radishes for our tea. All the children love radishes but DS doesn't like strawberries and only eats them on sufferance with loads of ice cream
