ubereglu
I've picked a large handful of sweet peas and climbing peas and dug out our first 4 potatoes, we also foraged some blackberries on our walk to Langport.
chickencam
loads of sweetcorn and French beans, and some of the first large autumn raspberries for our little nephew, they are his favourite food, he is only 14 months and ends up pink, but happy. Daphne
thats a nicer story than mine - the chickens pick the autumn raspberries for themselves and they end up pink beaked but I don't end up happy!
chickencam
Sounds like mine with the blackberries, our raspberries are safely at the allotment.

Lewis
When do you get them Lewis ? Next thursday - 19th Is this the secret chit chat section? We did pick a couple of courgettes earlier, but me really don't like them. Don't think I fancy making a cake ... might try though
The Dogmother
You're not alone Lewis; I used to like courgettes, but overdosed on them one year when I had a glut - haven't grown them since!
chickencam
Not like courgettes They are so versatile, soup, cake, fried, curried, the possibilities are endless and so are the courgettes. Edited to say yesterday I picked loads of Tumbler tomatoes and cut them in half, then roasted them with garlic, then pureed them with basil and froze for tasty pasta sauce in the winter. Cinnamon
I do that with my spare tom-toes too...makes for a lovely summery dish in the winter. You can add a red onion as well.

chickencam
I picked my few blackcurrants. I have had a large bush in the garden for a few years, but it only gives us a few. I bought a new one to go at the allotment when we have cleared an area for it. This one has been sitting in it's pot all summer and it had so many blackcurrants on it that you could hardly see it they were huge too. They are now in the freezer for a winter pud treat. I am going to strip the hanging basket tomatoes later too, for the freezer, they are all splitting now and we are going away at the weekend. I would recommend Tumbler tomoatoes to anyone, you get a massive crop from a small space, they grow outdoors, ripen early, and taste lovely
Christian
Handfuls of tiny cherry tomatoes and the last of my blueberries. More plums
Charlottechicken
Blueberries here too! I've had around half a small punnet's worth this year, my cheap plants are coming along really well!
Christian
I bought a plant (I say 'plant' - it was a twig in a pot) from Wilkinsons a few year ago. Never did well in a pot, so I planted it in teh veggie garden and have picked a fair few punnets this year Even made a couple of jars of blueberry and apple jam!
