Snow

Lovely sunset - it makes it hard to believe how cold it is with that warm glow.

Fantastic icicles you have too. We have one huge one just outside the back door - narrowly missing as the door opens (outwards) - there are loads on the guttering, mostly out the front, a couple at the back and on the neighbours houses. Minus 6 last night and I put all the girls in together because the elgu seemed cold and so did the Babes.

My icicles this morning 8)

No sign of a thaw yet - this is my 4th day of not being able to get out & cabin fever is now setting in!

Beautiful aren't they - I've been taking photos of icicles.

I can see these are low down but if anyone has icicles at roof height and they are becoming longer and bigger then try to knock them off as they can either pull your guttering down or fall off and do someone an injury!

I love watching icicles and they are stunning in the sunlight. I am sick of it now wet feet and cold hands trying to clear my car - we have a friendly farmer with a plough though thankfully!

We are getting sick of it now - enough is enough as 2 more inches this morning!

The clouds are gathering here. But the thaw continues - heard a big s"Ooops, word censored!"ing crash earlier - I think some of our icicles dropped off onto the porch roof because I can see spikes going upwards (bit like a mini statue of liberty  ). The icicle outside the back door continues to grow and drip all over the step - have to be very careful there now. We don't have many icicles but a house across the way looks like it has a waterfall! All the chickens are out and under the clubhouse while Murray was clearing off the snow from the run covers.

Just been out to clean out the chooks, very tempted to give up after 5 mins as my fingers were so numb I couldn't feel what I was doing. The poor chooks are out in the garden and are wandering up and down the path as that is the only bit that isn't covered in snow. Their little feet are pink, hope they aren't hurting like my fingers. I wondered about putting some newspaper on the run floor to give them something warmer to stand on , what do you think ? :?

Oh, and just to add, it's snowing again, just a little flurry, but still snow

I've just watched some cross country race on the tele .... Edinburgh, I think .... and the guys are running in shorts and vests in the snow.

Crickey making me shiver with the thought.

Just checked with OH (a cross country runner  ) and he confirms the Bupa Edinburgh Cross Country race was on today - they snowploughed the route apparently  .

Must be quite a body shock to come to our temperatures from Ethiopia!. Its baltic here. I drove past Ali-s's cottage by the castle today and must admit for all the snow that is down there compared to us and they have a fair bit also but the roads are downright disgraceful as ours are better at this end that they are down there - I must admit my little Yaris goes everywhere in it and touch wood has not been stuck at all and got me out of the drive in the snow every time even over thick stuff - I am very impressed with it

In the villages round about they are getting diggers to dig away the snow and it is being transported away to clear pavements and school playgrounds etc/

Sooooo cold and is anyone else tired? I think its the stress of childcare, work, making sure all are safe and sound and that we have food. We can live out of cupboards and freezer - big on soups at present - kids fed up with it. But its the tiredness OH says he feels the same. I may take up hibernation - airing cupboard a prospect as warm and cozy.

Ventured out this afternoon to pick mum up, so she will be back with us until the thaw. The pinky grey clouds are getting thicker and we had a little teeny weeny bit of snow earlier, but not much - probably being blown off the trees as it's so powdery. Quite windy now - and still the icicles drip. We are getting stalagmites and stalatites now on the doorstep - quite dangeroozy!

:eh: YES - I am not the only one who considered hibernation :D

I am shatered from all the extra clearing of snow, hassle making sure everyone is properly clothed before leaving the house AND THEN having to dry all the clothes and defrost the bodies when they return. :talk2hand:

Not to mention still having to cook meals and make sure everyone ids well fed, warm and ready for the next day

ES has been in the swimming pool since 8.30am, last event for him will be around 6.30pm - all the to-ing and fro-ing is exhausting, then theres still OHs dinner to cook when he comes in

Having said that - it must be good to have all this extra exertion after christmas, saves on a gym membership

Bored with the usual snowman, we decided to build a snow turtle! Here is my DD with our lovely neighbour Jayne, with our work of art. We are having a lovely mug of hot chocolate after all our hard work.
