PurpleTree
Apologies if this has been posted before, but I've just read about it on http://www.blagger.co.uk/ The Eden project are selling two different sized hen houses, made almost entirely from recycled plastic. Here's the small one http://www.edenproject.com/shop/product.aspx?id=8762 I think it looks like a robot.
C&T
How odd! Though at first looked quite cool - but actually, I don't think I like it... A bit too like a piece of sculpture if that makes sense?? Not for my back garden anyway!
Redwing
I like the look of these and posted about them before, someone commented that the plastic looks thin and after seeing one up close now I agree with this, its thin-ish plastic (though not brittle to be fair) and is not double skinned so it would be quite cold inside I reckon Condensation could be a problem but the ventilation is good which lessens the chances certainly they are well made, easy to dismantle but sturdy when assembled. the internal design is good, lots of smooth surfaces and joins are good and easy to clean The door 'mechanism' works smoothly and has been well thought out I still like the look of them, they look like they have been designed by someone with chickens which really helps!! but I wouldnt buy one personally as I believe the actual plastic sheet used lets it down
The Dogmother
I've seen one in use, the person who has it told me that they aren't very well insulated, so get hot in the summer and cold in the winter - they wish they'd never bought it
sandyhas3chucks
I just instantly didn't like the look
Raina
I've seen quite a few of these on eBay, they come in lots of colours...but i don't like them, The runs look really small & narrow too
chickencam
They look like they would be really cold.
Willow
I rather like them (although I prefer my eglu ) I think given eglu owners got pretty fed up of criticisms of the eglu from diehard wooden hen house fans I personally would decline to pass negative comments on suitability. Valkyrie
I agree it looks too well ventilated! One gust of wind in our garden would see that flying up the road.
Egluntyne
Ugly innit?
bluekarin
It's interesting but I really don't like the look of it. The shape looks clunky. Much prefer an Eglu or Cube (one day )
BarbaraJ
I actually like it for a great idea for a coop if i want to introduce 2 new chickens in the summer at that price. Couldn't and wouldnt be allowed an eglu so that would be great! ok that was the delivery price Edited January 23, 2010 by Guest
Lewis
Have seen these before and found them when I was looking for duck housing - I think they look ok but would much rather spend the money on a Go or eglu I think they're too high priced to sell enough to compete with Omlet really They do bigger chicken then duck/geese houses and rabbit hutches - all quite stuff
chelsea
Dont like it at all... Looks like a chicken version of the magician's box where you saw someone in half (if you get what I mean! )
Helly Welly
Eurgh, don't like it at all, looks like it's been put together by someone who has some spare bits of plastic lying around. The door looks lkie it'll chop a chook in half
sadietoo
I really must learn to look at things more closely..First glance I thought what's everyone complaining about it's not too bad for the price...then I saw that was just for the delivery... Don't like it (well not at that price)
Charlottechicken
It looks like a good substitute for a wooden hut, though without the twin walls it would be better priced at under £200. I think what I don't like about it is the fact that they have just made a fairly traditional looking chicken house out of plastic, rather than redesign the whole concept, like the Classic Eglu. Other than that, good for them for having a go, even if it is starting to remind me of one of those DIY flatpack 70's lampshades
The Dogmother
Other than that, good for them for having a go, even if it is starting to remind me of one of those DIY flatpack 70's lampshades Thank you Claire, I was trying to think where I'd seen it before! HENthusiastic
Good on them for the recycled aspects, but as far as aesthetics go...
sparkysmum
Eh no Not at half the price, so ugly
Jillus
I see Sadietwo also thought ' not bad for £12' until I saw that was just the delivery! Ugly, not very cosy, not for my girls!
docsquid
No, I don't like it. If it was half the price it might be a good temporary house for intros and such like.
whoopsie
Don't like it at all. Looks far too flimsy and wouldn't last a second in the high winds we get here sometimes. Love my Eglu even more!!
craftyhunnypie
I like that, but would sooner trust an eglu / eglu go! Emma.x
ladyjulian
It looks like a bin. A chicken bin.
