Lesley
I like working with the ribbon as it is much faster than other forms of embroidery. The silk ribbon is quite expensive though and I wondered if anyone knew of a good source. Could you use satin ribbon? - I buy ribbon from this Ebay seller and had good quality ribbon and really fast delivery... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140940051936 I bought packs of the 6mm, 15mm and organza ribbons. There is a stash bag of silk ribbon here.... http://www.craftyribbons.com/shop.aspx?c=
LolaLayla
I adore the birds, might need to try that I can crochet granny squares but changing colours is a bit beyond me It is not too hard if you experiment a bit. I am a beginner with crochet and I certainly got better at it the more birds I made and I also put the join at the fold so it wasn't noticeable if I made a mistake I like working with the ribbon as it is much faster than other forms of embroidery. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the craftyribbons site it looks really good

redhotchick
Next, ribbon embroidery! Not really, it's lovely but I can't buy anything else until I've done some of the stuff I've got already. I have some bobble wool. Only 4 balls, 200g in total. Enough to make a 30 x 80cm rectangle. I can't decide whether to make it narrower but longer, for a scarf, or make a lap blanket. Any other ideas? The wool is called "Saphira". I think I got it from Aldi last year.
bluekarin
Is it too bobbly to make a table runner or table mats? Or maybe a pot holder? A tea cosy? I tried googling it but nothing came up so I don't know what else to suggest.
Lesley
A squirrel UFO! - fabulous! I have some UFOs to finish....but I prefer to flit to new things all the time

redhotchick
this is the wool, just started knitting it up, it has a chenille effect, not robust enough for a table runner. I've made a few mistakes already, I might start again. I don't think I've knitted anything for more than 20 years!
Purplemaniacs
It is very similar to some lilac wool that I made granddaughter a scarf out of for Christmas. Chrissie

bluekarin
After almost three years in the making, I finally completed my granny stripe blanket WooHoo! It's having a much deserved wash and once it is on my bed I shall pop a photo up on here. The one I have just taken doesn't do the colours justice at all. What shall I do now? redhotchick
I knitted almost a whole ball of wool, before deciding it was too wide and wouldn't be long enough, so I unravelled it all and started again! It is very soft. I've nearly knitted as much as I had before and I've only made one mistake so far this time too!
patsylabrador
Socks. I'm knitting socks for this years Christmas presents. I really like making them, I've got a book of toe-up sock recipes with all sorts of decorations. I plan to sew on knitted embellishments like ladybirds on the outside cuff. I'll let you know how that goes, I'm quite a slow knitter which is why I've started now and have 10 pairs to knit. Also started another project in case there is a summer swap. I'm really excited about what I'm making. Sorry possible potentialswapee, it might look weird.
