Snow

Recommended Posts

Bitterly cold overnight but at least no more snow.

Haven't seen or heard any cars go along the road yet but OH's car has gone to he must have managed it. I will be walking to work again as I am just too scared to attempt it in my car. Working a 12 - 8pm shift today. Hopefully tonight OH will be able to pick me up from work.

Just seen something amusing. I was outside with Archie Dog and could hear voices. I looked towards the road and there were 2 people skiing along the road. From what I could make out they had bicycle lights attached to themselves. White ones on the front, red ones on their backs and a number of flashing lights on other parts of their body. They were moving along quite fast.

just worried that most of town will be out panic buying now

Phew, lucky I did my panic buying a week ago!

More snow overnight here (and more ratty footprints  ) and big flakes falling at the moment. Anyone able to tell me what the snow is like in Peterborough? Meant to be going there in about an hour but if it's bad I'll cancel.

The merest icing sugar dusting here :?

Same here Cinnamon. Desperate for a food shop, just worried that most of town will be out panic buying now

DON'T!

I have work this evening & am dreading it

Although hopefully most people would have done their panic buying earlier in the day.

Am taking the phone off the hook in case they call me in........

Another couple of inches overnight and we've had a few snow showers this morning. Blue sky and sunshine now and -1˚

I've been up to the hives to poke a little snow into the entrances to stop the bees flying out.

Our road is finally passable

Our farmer that does these things has been along our lane with tractor, plough and gritter. I heard on the news this morning that the council subcontracts gritting to the highways agency who subcontract again ending at farmers such as ours in the more rural areas. These guys get £15.00 an hour but by the time the council has got the bill it has become £100, a shameful mismanagement of our money

Hope you lot further north and to the east of us here are keeping snug.

About an inch in St Albans, felt warmer at 7 am and glugs not frozen not it is starting to feel really cold again. The bantams took one look and retreated back under the eglu, the big girls are all squashed into the doorway of the WIR bokking like a load of old women and for the ex-bats it's business as usual - nothing stops them

We have about 1cm here just enough to turn everything white. YD was very disappointed that it was not enough for her to have a day off school. The other 2 children seem to be determined to get 100% attendence this term so were happy to go, probably knowing that there would be more snow in Gloucester and they would have fun with their friends.

We had a few centimetres overnight and it's trying to snow again now. The ex-batts were not impressed! They've never seen snow before and couldn't work it out.

It never got above -4 on Sunday (brrrrr) when I was orienteering on Cannock Chase, but the skies were bright blue and it felt good to be out in the crisp air.

It's been so cold I'm even wearing my thermals indoors.

I've had to dry Peggy (ex-bat) off as she was a bit too enthusiastic about the snow  The batties have gone in with the bantams in their WIR as the eglu run is a bit soggy. They are all hoovering up porridge atm and seem quite happy, however a couple of big girls are snuffly so have asked vet for some antibiotics just in case

It has not stopped snowing all day. We must have about 4 or 5 inches I reckon. DD has just come home shocked as a tree branch nearly hit her! Thankfully she heard a big creak and moved out of the way.

Trying to convince hubby to come home now, trouble is a couple of stops up the line to London and there isn't any snow.

All the schools have closed early here - unheard of for YS's school to close.
