Bramble
Ooo, good question, I'm not sure he does know .. might just have to spend the weekend watching a box set to brush up on the plot thus far so I'm well prepared for Sunday ... LolaLayla
I am really looking forward to it too. DD said it meant Christmas was on its way as all the good programmes were back I think Mary told Matthew

craftyhunnypie
I love the ad for it, with ' Perfect day' playing in the background. We didn't watch it until about 3 episodes from the end last time, but we absolutely loved what we saw. Yes, looking forward to it. Plus it will soon be time to dust off my Downton Abbey style (cloche) hats again - when the weather gets a bit more crisp! Emma.x
clucker1
Have just seen the trailer for it. Is the music " Just a perfect day" spelling disaster already?? Looks as ever a fabulous drama topped by Dame Maggie Smith whose timing and performance is sheer brilliance. 1.5 hours tomorrow of Downton. clucker1
Wasn't it brilliant. Although so much of the plot has been about the great marriage, so now a different storyline will be made as the main thread, which will be different. I loved the dresses of the family for the wedding, the costume dept have done a great job, especially with the colours the ladies of the family are wearing. Chickendoodle
Sorry, I was really disappointed. I absolutely loved the first series - brilliant characters, sharp storylines and a real sense of suspense and anticipation in the plotlines. The second series I thought was not as good but still watchable. This series now feels like a soap with pretty costumes and I hate soaps ! I get the feeling that Julian Fellowes wrote the first series as a whole and then was a bit lost as to what to do with the characters from then on. Won't be watching any more I'm afraid
AJuff
I loved it! Can't wait until next week:)
craftyhunnypie
I loved it! I love the poshness, the costumes & the furnishings. Just perfect! We don't have a house like Downton, but a lot of our furnishings are similar&/ or the same. We were watching all through the programme for something that could fill a spare bare corner in our living room. I really liked the writing desk. If anyone has any other ideas, send them on a postcard. We both said we were born in the wrong era. I didn't like the cell mate in with Mr . Bates - could there be a storyline brewing there? Who did do that crime? Why was Cybils husband so disliked? Sorry, but we missed a lot of Downton & only got into it at the end of the last series. It's just pure elegance & we both love it. scubababe
I was unfortunately out last night so I missed it....but I caught up today I actually missed series 1 & got hooked on series 2. I love that era It was worth it just for maggie smith's 1 liners!!!! BAINES IS INNOCENT!!!!!!
WitchHazel
IWhy was Cybils husband so disliked? Sorry, but we missed a lot of Downton & only got into it at the end of the last series. It's just pure elegance & we both love it. Emma.x Sybil married the chauffeur. Originally they were going to elope, but Mary and Edith talked her out of it (in the hope that she would go off him anyway). So, they declared their love, publicly in the drawing room in front of the family. Lord G tried, unsuccessfully, to buy the chauffeur off. Lord G was going to banish them completely but as he had just had a near-fling with a housemaid himselfm and had just learned about Mr Pamook & Mary, he gave them his blessing. Hope that helps. craftyhunnypie
Ah thank you. That helps a lot! I do remember vaguely a few snippets of information that I might have seen now. Emma.x
Cinnamon
Huge excitement here (well, from me anyhow) when I realised that the house the family visited for a picnic this week,is just a little way down the road from me - in fact I drive past it almost every day. It is called Greys Court, & is well worth a visit if you are ever in the area ....GREAT coffee & cake shop too! They also have wonderful grounds & the most fantastic old kitchen to view. soapdragon
Is Grey's Court ever open !!!?? Every time we have tried to visit its been the wrong day of the week or wrong time of year - shame as its only 20mins from us and does look lovely ! Plum
Love this programme, I only started this time and yet to see the other two so can't compare. Maggie Smith is brilliant!
counturchickens
I am really enjoying it, but it doesn't quite have the same tension now Mary and Matthew are together. Plum, you must get hold of the other 2 seasons!
Plum
It'll be on my Christmas wish list. Where is it filmed?

RedReader
Im really enjoying this series but having trouble getting why none of them look any older. the 1st series started in 1912 with the Titanic sinking, its now 1920 so 8 years on & none of them have aged What skincare routines did they use back then!!! Bramble
It'll be on my Christmas wish list. Where is it filmed? Downton Abbey itself is better known in real life as Highclere Castle in Berkshire, I believe!!!!!
