Chortle Chook
Well, just that really - which do you prefer - Omlet Forum or Omlet Facebook and why? Guess that goes for other forums too. I love the Omlet forum and I came off of Facebook but am beginning to feel I may be missing out Am I
HarrisonFamily
forum for me....it didn't even occur to me that there was a facebook page....might have to have a look now.... But I hate facebook I am sure regardless of what settings are set the whole world is watching you...where as this forum feels small and friendly like a little neighborhood rather than a big scary city.... chickencam
Love this forum, feels like family. Never been to Omlet Facebook page, only have Facebook to be able to stalk my daughters' friends and boyfriends

Ain't Nobody Here
I do use Facebook but haven't used the Omlet page. I do like this forum though, although I'm not as active on it as I used to be.
Forestchook
Forum. I have never even looked at omlet facebook With regards to Facebook: I joined, I looked, I wondered why I bothered.

Lavenders_Blue
I like them both for different reasons. I post more on the forum than I do on Facebook because it has a friendlier feel and the threads are more to my interest. But I like Facebook for the nosiness factor! Chortle Chook
I think I'll stick with just the forum as it really does feel cozy. I always feel I'm getting something out of it and am able to give something back to it (however much time I spend on it - and I am on here lots ). Whereas Facebook felt like just too much of a time sucker when I was on it

bluekarin
I love both I love FB for keeping in touch with friends and family who I don't see very often. I do see my friends once a week, sometimes more, but still nice to see the other things they and their kiddies get up to. On here I like the diverse range of topics we all chat about. I don't use the Omlet FB page but do browse on it occasionally.
Lesley
I like them both for different reasons. I post more on the forum than I do on Facebook because it has a friendlier feel and the threads are more to my interest. But I like Facebook for the nosiness factor! Ditto - and I keep in touch with some family members on FB as well. FB really came into its own when I needed to find out about a relative in the US when I had a feeling he may be in hospital. patsylabrador
I don't do facebook but if it was a choice between forum and Twitter I would say do both. This forum is great but I always feel I'm trying to behave and not being quite myself. It does have a cosy atmosphere because people make that effort. I reckon we could have some right old debates on here but it would spoil the comfort factor of this forum. I think I'm becoming more of a lurker on here to be honest. I come on here to learn and enjoy more domestic skills but for ranting and politics I prefer Twitter. Basically I wouldn't choose, that would be like choosing between a greengrocers and a bakers when to have both is good.
Valkyrie
I mostly play a silly game on Facebook - never bothered to look at the Omlet page on there - didn't even know there was one. I like it because I can keep in touch easy with my Canadian cousins - easier than phoning and chatting is more instant than emails. Also I can pester and poke friends I don't really come on here much but I do tend to miss what's going on and a lot of peeps have gone from here but are on facebook so I still keep in touch that way. Don't do twitter - although I have stalked my son! He's sort of funny (probably hilarious to youngsters his age) and rather pleased that he announced he's stopping swearing on there! Whoo hoo - now I know nuuuuuthing about that of course!
Cinnamon
At the moment I would say Facebook, purely because of the wider rande of friends I have there Its great for keeping up with people you have lost touch with & with work colleagues too. Brands you like too.And Scrabble, & other games. I love that I can see my baby niece's first adventure on a beach or my friends photos from her trip to Australia. Much as I love my forum friends, there is more to life than chickens! I loath Twitter though, for no real reason other than I can't see the point of it & probably don't understand it. Olly
But I hate facebook I am sure regardless of what settings are set the whole world is watching you...where as this forum feels small and friendly like a little neighborhood rather than a big scary city.... That is a really lovely comment to make about the forum, and it's great thàt many of us feel that. However with my Mod hat on, I feel obliged to point out that the reverse is actually true - you can set your security settings on Facebook to restrict access to your profile, whereas posts on here can be read by anyone. The Internet is a deceptive place!
Plum
True Olly, you make a good point there. They are different and on the whole i can be more confident here behind an avatar but on Facebook you're known in the real world and Valkrie remember your son can keep tags on you as we'll

Alis girls
Forum for me too - friendly and I rarely use FB - have unusual surname so under my maiden name - dont want patients finding out about me - odd folk about these days. forum every time
bluekarin
I agree Olly. The forum is much more available to the outside world for people to see what you are writing about. Which is why I am not too free with info that could say who or where exactly I am. There have been topics on here, where by just Googling the topic it came up in the Google search for all to see, and some of these the topic writers really didn't want certain things to be known. They were quickly deleted! With Facebook, maybe it is misplaced trust, but I have my settings high so only friends can see what I have written and not anyone else. Chortle Chook
It is true what you say about Google and threads coming up from the Omlet Forum, but we are all behind avatars and funny names on here. Perhaps incorrectly, I trust that more than I trust the security settings on Facebook which I know can very easily be breached. I also find the forum a lot more interesting as debates and conversations are held whereas when I was on Facebook, aside from the 'likes' I only got about one or two answers to anything I put up there and could see that the same was happening to my Facebook 'friends'. By contrast, on here, some threads run to well over 20 responses, some more than that. Guess I find people's thoughts far more interesting than their daily doings
ubereglu
I never use the Omlet facebook, but do use facebook and the forum regularly. In an ideal world I wouldn't use facebook, but it is becoming ever more useful to keep tabs on friends etc and arrange things-plus it is often the sole mechanism I use to keep track of what on earth my brother is up to!
