On the word association thread Groovychook's latest 'answer' was Marmite with a sub that she isn't really bothered one way or 'tother! As someone who can eat it straight from the jar (tho its nicer dribbled over a plate of sprouts) I couldn't let that one go!!!

 

Sooooooo, where do you stand on Marmite? Any thoughts on Vegemite or Bovril?

Love, love love it!!! Haven't tried it on sprouts though ... will have to give that a go ...

My failsafe "recipe" for quick supper is marmite pasta (well, it's not really a recipe and credit has to go to Nigella, I'm afraid). Just mix some marmite (you need quite a bit, but probably best to just start with tiny bit to begin with) into cooked pasta and eat ... absolutely divine and now I'm very hungry!!!

Not bothered about Marmite, dislike vegemite and love Bovril OH loves vegemite, isn't bothered about Marmite and drinks Bovril once a year if feeling ill. We have all 3 options available in Portugal for guests They are the only thing we bring from the UK now, other than tea

Life without Marmite would not be worth living - ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration but I can't imagine not having a jar in the cupboard. Stirred into gravy or soup, spread on soldiers with boiled eggs, just on toast, under cheese in a sandwich, can you tell I'm a Marmite addict? I haven't tried it on sprouts though.

Love Marmite on toast topped with marmalade, sort of sweet and sour on toast.

I like it on soft white bread, but no other way. So I guess I'm not bothered either - haven't had it for years.

 

Vegemite is pointless - marmite with no bite, and I've never had bovril.

Love marmite but only on toast and never, ever on sprouts - what a waste of marmite

Scrambled egg on toast is greatly enhanced by smothering the toast with Marmite (no butter) before piling on the egg!

Chunks of really strong Cheddar cheese benefit from a layer of Marmite as does goat's cheese Bovril is a no no.....tastes different to me but I know others who swear its better than Marmite and Vegemite is not a patch on the real thing!

When I was pregnant, 25 years ago now, I really wanted marmite on toast with tinned spaghetti on top.

Hubby kindly cooked it for me and then when it arrived I didn't actually want it

I think it would have been nice together.

Marmite is ok, prefer Vegemite, but would rather have peanut butter.

I'll have Marmite on doorstop toast once or twice a year with loads of butter but other than that I could take it or leave it.

I but the Tesco own...mainly because its cheaper and I'm mean! No discernable diff in taste but its not quite as thick!

I've heard that eating marmite helps stop mosquitoes biting you.

So, I've been eating it every morning for a while now ready for when they start coming out to feast, horrible creatures.

Ahhh, but you can't put Brewer's Yeast tabs on your sprouts, Ursula Maybe the Marmite would work better if applied externally - that would put ANYTHING off!!!

Like Bovril, but always forget it exists - thank you for reminding me.

Love it. This is my breakfast routine, a cup of twinings English breakfast tea followed by cold multi seed toast slightly burnt with butter and marmite and another cup of tea. Yummy

Love it! Cheese and Marmite sandwiches are the best. Haven't tried the brussels, recipe, but sounds good. However, the Marmite Easter egg I had last year may have been a step too far...
