We have really heavy snow here

We had a little dusting overnight and when I looked out at 5.30am it wasn't too bad but then by 7.15am it was snowing so heavily we could barely see accross the road, and it has pretty much carried on like this since.

My OH has just set off for a 2 mile walk to work because he has a meeting, he was out salting the junction between our lane and the main road at 7.45am this morning, at least we have a salt box near by because there are so many cars that leave their braking too late and end up sliding out into the main road.

DS's school is closed today, his was the only secondary open in Gloucestershire yesterday, although there weren't many pupils those that were there were on local TV news in the evening. They didn't close until after the buses had gone so they have had to come back with the boys.

YD's school is open today, it must be about the only one in the area. It does say on their website not to take any risks in getting there, so we haven't. I think the head has done it for the sake of the working parents, because he and some of the other staff live pretty close to the school.

We've had 2 to 3 inches every day here :? We even had a good snowfall to wake up to on Wednesday. I've had to use the train twice this week as the side roads were impassable on Tuesday and Thursday. A neighbour's car was written off whilst parked outside her house on Monday. It was pushed onto the pavement...but the wheel stayed in the gutter  The tow truck has just removed it today, I imagine it will be written off :?

I have had solid snow in the garden and on the roof for almost a week now, it just hasn't moved. I can't remember when it was as bad as this for so long before.

Most folk managed to get to work all week though, and even on Monday, when it was quite dangerous in the afternoon, our bosses made a skeleton staff stay till 5pm to man the phones

a lorry whizzed past on my road and skidded quite badly out the front of my house!!!!!:shock::shock::shock: I almost laid an egg!

Blimey

I dug my car out yesterday ready to go to work today, dug it out again this morning  and managed to drive a whole 200 yards before skidding my car to a halt at the side of the road and walking back

I don't love my job enough to risk it!

Another day off :D

We are charging everything up and making bread just in case we get a power cut

We have run out of most food but do have bread, eggs (obviously) cheese, onions and cider so are ok for now but our meals will have a samey feel for the next couple of days

School closed again today which is good as I don't think I could make it to the main road

It was snowing lightly when I went out to the girls first thing, then heavier when I took them their warm porridge, a treat as I don't have time on a school morning.

Now it is snowing heavily and settling on top of the snow that we already had.

Still snowing here Clare - we've had another 4" since we came home at 4am.

We're charging things up nad cooking as well - I'm making a monster beef stew, with lots of leeks as we've managed to run out of onions :roll: Carl's just gone to see if he can find any lurking in the polytunnel

About 18 years ago we had heavy snow and we had a power cut for 5 days! - I was pulling my hair out by the time we had power again. I'm trying to do all the things I remember from then - keep on top of the washing, wash my hair while i still have the hairdrier to use

The ducks are having to make do with just drinking water - we have to take water in buckets as all the hosepipes are frozen - they need to be able to dunk their heads in clean water but will have to do without swimming water today.

It has stopped here now we have about 4 inches but it is melting fast.

The children have been outside for ages, they didn't bother yesterday when the youngest was at school. They have had the sledge out and built a big snowman and had a long snowball fight with the lad next door and his friend :D

I made it in the back garden I'm not afraid of of the chicken gifts that may lurk under the snow, but it has a slightly mottled look to it
