What do you do for a living?

Recommended Posts

DrCara - I wish I'd known you specialised in anorexia nervosa. It has been so hard trying to find information to help my daughter understand her friend's strange and apparently rude behaviour. Now the friend is in hospital and so the daily stress is removed, but it is still hard to know what to say and what not to say.

Jackie - where did you work? That cannot be a fun job, not many perks!

It's very interesting that there are so many nurses and quite a few teachers. They are the caring professions. Churches also usually have a high proprtion of teachers and nurses.

that sounds like the rest of us aren't caring

caring professions or not, I've met plenty of horrible teachers and nurses in my time. There are of course plenty of nice ones too :D

I drive a lorry for a living, well for fun really, its great and i love it. Being a woman in a mans world has its moments too. 99.9% of the male drivers are great and the other 0.01% i just ignore

This is my baby and if you look closely you might be able to see my little pink teddy in the window. My daughter won it for me at the fair! :D

Personal assistant & general skivvy to one trainee teenager (DS) and a pre-teen (DD), Mrs to very patient Mr, company secretary for family business, Chief Domestic Cleansing Operative, Pup, Bee & Chook mummy, part-time crafts teacher & volunteer at the local hospice, Jam Maker to-all-who-come-bearing-fruit, safety net to various working friends, serial cake baker and Omleteer :anxious: I think that covers most of my waking hours :D !!

What a great mix of jobs, I'd never have guessed a trucker (mummy or otherwise  ) or prison officer amongst the ranks.

I'm a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in a village primary school working with the 4 year olds, I love it, at the moment doing a Foundation Degree in Early Years and then wondering whether to go onto do my Level 6 and then QTS but its a big commitment

Before I had my children I was an RGN and RSCN in London so always worked with children and fall into both camps, nursing and education :D

I'm a stay at home mum to my little ones at the moment but in a former life I was a software consultant. I don't think I could go back to it. I don't have a clue what to do when in 3 years time when youngest DD starts school. I wouldn't want to do full time so it doesn't give many options.

Solicitor and partner in a local law firm. I deal mainly with property work, residential (house sales and purchases, remortgages etc ) and commercial (factory and office leases). I also cover wills and probate, especially for my property clients. As property work has been a bit quiet lately, I've taken on some matrimonial work. A few years ago I only did matrimonial work, but found it a bit depressing and I felt that I was becoming too cynical, so changed my focus. I do find the whole partnership and running my own business thing a bit stressy, especially as I have 3 children and one lovely but very messy hubby !!

I work part time as a legal adviser in the local magistrates' court. It is quite an interesting job but it can be funwhen I walk round town and see people that I know from work. They are usually fine and will say, "a'right," to me. At which point my DD will say, "Mum, is that a friend or a criminal?"
