Eggasperated
Meringues to use up 4 egg whites. But I must have done something wrong as there is a lot of beading on them ; but I'm going to smother them in fruit and cream so you can't see it . LolaLayla
I am trying something new in the slow cooker. Pork, mushrooms, onions and potatoes. I am looking forward to eating something warming later on as it is so bitterly cold today.
redhotchick
My other half made Spanish Pot Roast Chicken. It was delicious! I was very impressed. I recently bought him a cast iron enamelled casserole dish with a lid. He was inspired! The key flavours were pimenton and fennel seeds. Yum! http://www.lovefood.com/guide/recipes/10135/spanish-pot-roast

freddie
Just cooked, for the first time, a North Devon Speciality. Laver, with crisp bacon, and toast. It is really nice, Laver is......... seaweed!!
Egluntyne
I made this cake a couple of days ago. It does go into two layers, but is really quite eggy I wonder if I can use an egg less? I am thinking of trying it with lemon rind and see if that cuts through the eggy taste. I like the look of the chocolate version! I wonder if it could be made with gluten free flour? To answer my own question - yes it can, and very nice it is too.
redhotchick
Today I've made Vanilla Macaroons with a Salted Caramel filling I bet there's none left! Sounds wonderful! What is the recipe please? I keep intending to make macaroons but I haven't got round to it yet! I casseroled some pork cheeks and made barbecue ribs whilst the oven was on. Both were very tasty. Had the ribs on Saturday and the pork cheeks tonight.
Lesley
The best tutorial I've seen on making macaroons is from Ruth Clemens (GBBO) - http://www.thepinkwhisk.co.uk/ and the salted caramel sauce was the Nigella recipe, you just need to use less cream to use it as a filling rahter than a sauce - very quick and easy..... I'd made macaroons many times and not had a problem, having read about Ruth's problems I realise I must have been lucky. ....and, you're quite right....there are none left
Eggasperated
Hot Cross Buns! And they were lovely, I'll have to make some more tomorrow .
bluekarin
Hot Cross Buns! And they were lovely, I'll have to make some more tomorrow . Same here! I did Paul Hollywoods ones but tweaked them a bit. I added almost 2 tsps of mixed spice instead of one of cinnamon, and I baked the for 15 min instead of the 20 odd mins he says - mine were slightly too dark! I would leave out the apple next time too. Apart from that, they are yum! Rose beautifully and are ally soft.

I just decided at the last minute to add the apple to see what it was like! I'll know in an hour or so then. I also added much more spice - 1 tsp cinnamon and 2 tsp mixed spice......and more milk than he said - I'll keep an eye on the cooking time. Half of mine have dried fruit - the other half have chopped, dried apricots - His and Hers

bluekarin
Mini meringues for mini passion fruit Pavlovian for tomorrows easter feast ( or raspberry if the passion fruits don't ripen in time - any ideas on how to end that process up?) an am about to make a hot cross bun and butter pudding for same meal. Plus dyed some boiled eggs - not really baking or cooking as such but they do look quite pretty Shame once I washed the food colour off the colour that took was much paler. Wish I knew how to make them a deeper colour.
Lesley
Magic Meringues! - they were the recipe today on the Pink Whisk and took me back to when I bought my first microwave about 30 years ago (!!), they were the first thing I cooked in it! I'd forgotten all about them. They are a different texture to normal meringues but they're great for using in Eton Mess.
iar fach goch
Those meringues are on my to do list as well, but today I made the sausage rolls from the pink whisk site. My first attempt, look good, but as I'm veggie haven't tasted them. Also made some cheese and onion cakes as opposed to fish cakes. Yummy! craftyhunnypie
A key lime pie. Base & lime custard done & baked. Chilling in the fridge for 3 hours now . Then cream & icing sugar topping later. Not had this for years, so I'm hoping I still like the stuff! Emma.x

iar fach goch
Oooo! What's cheeseburger pizza?
patsylabrador
Basically, I make some pizza bases and lightly bake them. Fry onions, sliced gherkins and minced beef. Cool it some then add some seasoning and plenty of chutney. Spread on top of pizza base, top with cheese and heat in oven as normal. Very messy to eat.
