how to pronounce aubiose?

Recommended Posts

Feel a bit silly asking, but everytime I go somewhere that sells Aubiose, I hear it pronounced differently. Just when I think I've got it right I go to another retailer and they give a funny look when I ask the price of it. :wall:

Aubiose :

"OR BEE OSE"

or

"OR BOYS"

or

OR BI OZE

or something different altogether? !

OH-BI-OSE with the stress on the 'OH'.

The 'au' should be 'oh' (as in aubergine).

Or you could just ask for 'a bale of that horse bedding, please'!

Trouble is most of the places Ive been have about 3 or 4 different types of horse bedding!

I hate going in and immediately standing out as the newbie chicken keeper

If you look the i is before the o. Part of the name is often mispronounced as bois (or bwaas) when in fact its aubiose

so its au -bi - ose and bearing in mind its French origins its most likely correctly pronounced oh - bee - ose as already indicated above
