Change in the air

Recommended Posts

I can feel Autumn today, I love the little chilly tang and the smell of Autumn and get quite excited about bonfire night, halloween and Christmas being on the way. Autumn and Winter are my favourite months.

Falling leaves, bonfires in the garden, noisy crows, starlings gathering, dark evenings when it's raining outside - can't wait!

Yes, we've had a few misty, dewy, autumny sort of mornings just recently, the nights seem to be drawing in too (it's funny, I never really noticed that before the chucks arrived, but now I notice that each week they pack themselves off to bed a little earlier!) Lovely, I love Autumn ... !!

Strange, I thought summer had eventually arrived in Scotland yesterday  . We had just about the hottest day of the year when we visited the in-laws near Perth  .

Me too ANH

We've had sunshine all weekend and it feels like summer has finally arrived! We've had autumn for the past two months

Still waiting for Summer to appear here. We have had occasional days when the thermometer hit the high teens or the low twenties, June was quite pleasant.

Winter duvet still on the bed and last week we lit the wood burner every evening bar one when we put on the fan heater.

It is a lovely summer day here today, amd yesterday was good too, but it had felt autumnal recently. The allotment has moved into autumn, beans are finishing and the plants are turning yellow, pumpkins are ripening, potatoes are dying back. I always think of August as an autumn month, it certainly is from a gardening perspective.

We have cool wet weather forecast for the rest of the week, so all outdoor jobs will have to be done today.

Hi

Yes, lovely weekend here but last week it was cold night and morning. We had the heating on for an hour each evening. The other thing is that the Swallows that have been nesting in our sheds have been leaving, but now and again we have loads and we think it's because the ones that have been further North are moving South before heading for Africa. Usually a definate sign that Autumn's coming, quite early this year I think. We don't usually lose them until September.

I could see my breath when I was outside early this morning and noticed that the leaves on the trees in the wood are are turning orange and brown.

Started the day wearing 3/4 trousers, sleeveless T shirt and flip flops as the sun was shining and it looked like it was going to be a nice day. by noon I had changed into a long sleeved T shirt, long trousers and socks, I added a fleecey top as well when I took Archie Dog a walk.

Only two seasons In NE Scotland for over a year - June and Winter

Boiling here today and yesterday, both after a misty and autumnal start though.

The nights are drawing in now, and the night temperature has definitely gone down.

I do miss the season changes....... until I remember how much I hate being cold :lol::wink:

I remember that Paola, when I spent some time in the far east, I felt myself longing for cold frosty mornings! My uncle still lives in Singapore but doesn't miss the cold snaps.

Beautiful summers day here, 23 degrees int eh shade and so hot on the lawn that the hens are all lying down in the shade 8)

I left for work this morning at 7am in sandals and didn't have cold legs, that's a rarity! Just realised because I've had 12 weeks off work, it was the first time I've worn sandals to work this year

Just a hint of the changing seasons here as well - although it is a lovely sunny summers afternoon at the moment. I bought a new wolly jumper today in preparation for the perishing winter that may follow!! (it was in the sale and lovely and snuggly). I am hoping for a couple more weeks of lovely sunshine to top up my vitamin D before we hit autumn proper - it is my favourite season of them all.
