chickencam Posted August 7, 2011 Share Posted August 7, 2011 My Brother and sister inlaw had their second child induced at 9.30pm this evening. The baby has a serious heart condition and it's prognosis is not good. they have been told that if the baby lives for the first few days then things will be more positive, they were told that there was a problem after repeated scan at 20-23 weeks. They have been very stoical about everthing, but I really feel for them. Sorry to bring down the mood, but if ever positivity was needed then it is now. Thanks in anticipation. chickencam Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks for the good wishes everyone, we haven't heard anything yet, they texted us last night to say that the process had been started and that they would let us know as soon as anything happened. I was so jumpy overnight, I was hoping that it would work very quickly because she had our nephew on the stairs at home because he came too quickly for them to get to hospital. I so hope that they can do something for the baby, having had 3 healthy babies ourselves, we are really feeling for them and counting our blessings at the same time. chickencam Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share Posted August 8, 2011 Well the baby (a little boy) was born at 12.44pm and they have had a cuddle, so the fact that he was breathing for himself is a very positive start. He has now gone to special care to checked out, he was 7lb which is a good weight because his due date wasn't until 21st August and his brother was only 6lb when he was born also a couple of weeks early. They induced her because they wanted her to be in hospital when he was born so that they could care for him straight away and their first baby was born very quickly. He was too in the end, after only having a few irregular contractions overnight and this morning, they decided to break her waters at 12 noon and he arrived 45 minutes later. We are really praying that he will fight, they think that he has Ebsteins which is a faulty valve deep within the heart and on a scale of one to ten they were told his condition was a 10 at the latest scan.
