izzys-hens
So while looking after the chickens i always think of things which could make it easier, i thought i could start a thread to see if anyone else had any ideas. My very first idea, is on the glugs you should be able to get mini ones which are just like one ball of the peanut glug, as i always find cleaning out where the two balls meet very difficult. And my other idea was that omlet should make, like a eglu for dogs, it would probably be very big and exspensive though. join in with this thread and prehaps omlet may think some are worth investing in. Lewis
A pygmy goat-lu ... could also be used for micro pigs, geese and turkeys!
Sam
Whose the designer of the eglu? Do they make other stuff, or is omlet the designer... if that makes sense
Geoid
Omlet is the designer
Lewis
I think the 4 founders of Omlet (James, Hanns, Simon + Will) designed the eglu at art college and then founded Omlet after they graduated We had to do a case study in Business Studies and mine was on James! Few more people working for them now though.
Sam
Ooo cheers lewis Wonder what made them think of a chicken coop... not the first thing you think of when you think of art & design. I think they should do a load of kitchen accessories in the omlet style, they really remind me of alessi
Space Chick
a range of hatching things could be useful.. broody coops or brooders. I like the idea of a micro pig house
scarlettohara
An automatic door, mini glugs/grubs suitable for chicks/growers/quail, something inside the eglu for galley pots to hang on for broodies and chicks. A mini classic or go for intros and poorlies and an eglu table. I'll probably think of more
LolaLayla
A pygmy goat-lu ... could also be used for micro pigs, geese and turkeys! What would it be called That could be a problem given the other thread on deciding a name for the small animal cage
squiffs
a duck eglu with a larger run with a compartment for water incorporated, so the ducks can paddle without risk of fox attack - this is what stops me from getting ducks
craftyhunnypie
A folding cube - as it's such a pain to move about & dismantle. Or a cube with a pitched / sloping roof to stop it leaking! A small spy hole with slide over cover, as when I clunk the egg port handle to check on them at night & do head counts - it sets them off bokking! Run dividers for intros & house signs for eglus. Funky Omlet Shower curtains or full covers for the runs with patterns on. Crocs / wellies with fried eggs all over them. Emma.x
Alis girls
A cat-glu for moggies - not sure why just like the name

thenewchick
small glug for the grit, matching tables for the eglu's to put into WIR, plastic roosting bars for their runs ....... more to follow when I think of things lol
The Raven
Something cheaper!!!!!! An eglu go would be perfect for us, but it's simply too expensive Omlet would definately get alot more customers if they lowered their prices somewhat Not alot, but by £50 would be good. £40, even. I saw a brilliant huge wooden coop and run - it was amazing, and fr £250....the eglu go with a run is £390.(I think it's for 390 If they lowered the price of even just that product they would end up making more money. They should make the eglu go in lilac too - much easier on the eye than red... I know these are not new products, but I really do think Omlet's prices are too high. £180? £200? £500? Just a suggestion - i think it is a good one, but I don't know the cost of producing one, of course. Also, as I feel I should coontribute something to the topic instead of hijacking it (I don't mean to but you know how things can go) Perhaps they should make an aviary? something warm, so you could keep parrots etc without headaches? Or something soundproof for cockerels? (not sure how that would work as they can crow outside, but maybe something could be worked out?) You'll get each of those eglus for the price you suggested, and possibly less.
The Raven
There are none near me, and I'm getting my ducks the week before next (hopefully) I'll try to find something but I doubt it. A dog kennel with a door will be all my ducks will get, and a semi circle walk in run. That'll do them,I suppose.
AJuff
A roll away nest box would be top of my list! I hate poo covered eggs! Ooh and a matching cover for the top of the Large glug to stop them flying up putting dirty feet and beaks into the water.
sadietoo
better access for the eglu run (because let's face it in the end most of us have them on hardstanding and don't move them about every few weeks) unless of course Omlet also have shares in a chain of Chiropractors! Alternatively they could start up a chain of Chiropractors as I know I need smoothing out after I have contorted myself to get at things at the far end of the run
gongladosh
how's about a timed door-opener option?
Old Speckled Hen
A plastic clip on feeder trough. None of my big combed hens or my cockerel will put their heads in a grub.
Christian
Fill the glug with pellets?
pips_pekins
Not really a new product but a change to an existing one. I would appreciate a way of draining the water and cleaning solution out of the egg port door and Classic cover. Not sure if it is a common problem but the orange bits of my second hand orange Classic are full of water/Poultry Shield. It goes in through the small hole but I can't get it out! What about matching perches and rain/sun shelters for FR chickens (like little bus shelters )? better access for the eglu run (because let's face it in the end most of us have them on hardstanding and don't move them about every few weeks) ... I know I need smoothing out after I have contorted myself to get at things at the far end of the run Me too sadietoo.
craftyhunnypie
Now coloured plastic roosting bars would be nice - call it interior design for chooks! I'd like an eglu keyring too. Emma.x
Ain't Nobody Here
Matching roosting bars do look fab, if I say so myself . I'd buy an eglu keyring .
