Yay - I always feel things are getting better after the 21st December. Although in the interests of strict truth, I have to point out that actually the mornings get slightly darker for the next few days - the day is longer, but sunrise doesn't start to get earlier until about the first week in January.

I'm a dark skies loving person. Perhaps I should move to Alaska or Scandinavia - that would cure me I'm sure.

No need to travel so far, come and be my neighbour. It was nearly 9am before it got light this morning and the light was fading just after 2.30pm. The girls got their evening corn at 1.30pm.

I am more than ready to finish with this twilight zone and can't wait for the longer days. I find the days get longer rapidly after the burning of the clavie on the 11th January. This Pictish ritual is kept alive in a nearby coastal village and the date marks the day of the Pictish new year. So roll on the 12th January :D

What a lovely memory, I was there when my second grandaughter was born and cut the cord, it was one of those experiences that I will never forget. She was born on the 25th November, three years ago. Once she has her birthday I know I need to get myself organised for Christmas :D
