The Dogmother
I have just emailed friends in Norfolk to check that they're OK; luckily they are inland a bit. The wind here is so strong now that the entrance gate won't work on the remote release, so we have a convoy of vehicles trying to get out.
Bramble
Real gale blowing here (north cotswolds) LOTS of debris from trees (and in some cases trees themselves ) on the roads but nothing compared with what others elsewhere are having to cope with. Hope all my fellow Omleteers are safe and sound.
percy049
Most of the flood waters are gone here in Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft, its just the clear up process now. Its so sad to hear and see businesses and homes destroyed
soapdragon
Terrible, terrible to see those houses tumbling into the sea - was on the One Show last night and in the papers this morning. And it appears that they are not insured due to their proximity to the 'edge'. Cannot imagine how those poor people are feeling.

The Dogmother
It's very sad. I spent a lot of my childhood on that coats and there are many areas where villages, and great chunks of land have been lost to the sea. People who live there know this and can't get insurance. Lovely here today.
percy049
Thankfully the emergency sea defences put in place a few months ago has saved our cliff, but as you said, other parts of villages have been lost
The Dogmother
We used to live near Happisburgh; there's an old village there which can be seen at low tide, many parts of the current one have either been taken by the sea or abandoned. I remember watching the sea breach the defences at Walcott one winter.
Eggasperated
The weather here the last few days has been very warm for the time of year, my thermometer has recorded overnight temperatures for the last 2 nights of 9 degrees C When I went down to the girls this morning it was like a spring morning with birds singing and doves cooing, and I'm sure I can hear the daffodils waking up All seems very odd after last week. The Dogmother
Still mild here too, but very foggy this morning.
The Dogmother
It was (very) briefly a bit brighter around lunchtime, but the fog has thickened again and the temperature is dropping. Currently 4.7deg out there, and visibility down to 50 yards.
Daphne
Well there was a heavy frost in Brighton this morning with white roads and de-icing required followed by thick fog for most of our drive through Sussex, Surrey and Hants. Its still pretty chilly
Egluntyne
Crisp and very sunny here. A lovely day.
The Dogmother
More fog this morning, but milder than before. The fog lifted around lunchtime and we had some sun through the high cloud, Still mild and raining can't remember when we last had rain.
chickencam
I thought that when we went out to get DS at about 9.30pm and it was raining. It is oddly mild.

The Dogmother
It's been really mild today, I've had a day off, and had the best of the weather when I walked the dogs first thing. It has been drizzly and overcast since then.

Grandmashazzie
Dry here all day so far, temp 8 but feels cooler as there is a brisk wind.We are in a little village on coast just outside Belfast so we tend to avoid the overnight frosts. craftyhunnypie
Been sunny all day - beautiful! Sun now starting to set & it's suddenly gone very cold. Time to light the fire. Emma.x
Groovychook
I'm way behind with my weather reports! Been a bit wet, grotty & mild for quite a few days. Had the best day for a while today, dry with some sun but raining now. Forecast sounds unpleasant for tomorrow - very wet & windy
chickencam
Sounds like tomorrow is going to be pretty awful, yesterday was too with some biblical rain, but today has been lovely, bright, crisp and fresh. Typical I was stuck in an office all day today apart from half an hour at lunchtime, then in a stuffy school for an hour and a half, whereas tomorrow I have a day off. The Dogmother
It was like a washing machine on spin cycle here yesterday - howling gales and thrashing rain, trees down and stuff blowing around everywhere. The winds eased off around 9pm and the rain started in earnest; torrential rain when I went to bed. It must have stopped soon after though as there's not too much standing water this morning. 2deg here and clear with wispy bits around the edges, so I saw a lovely sunrise as I drove to work. Forecast is for more mad weather over Christmas.
