Just have to share as I'm so excited!

I auditioned for a classic rock band last night..... And I GOT IT

I am now a bassist in a real life band :D

I haven't long started playing, but having played oboe/guitar in my younger days I progressed quite quickly, and both my teacher and a bass playing mentor thought I was ready for try outs :D

I had an absolutely awesome time at my audition, which turned into a full 3hr practice session where I even managed to jam along to songs I'd never heard before by getting the lead guitarist to yell chords at me

We are hoping to get on the road and do some charity gigs in the near future. Our lead singer is ex armed forces, served in Afganistan and lost 7 colleagues whilst on his last tour, and his son is currently serving, so the first gig is we are looking to do is to raise money for a local "help for heroes" type charity. We are even recording a charity single, with b side, so I'm going to be in the studio in a few weeks too

Can't wait to perform on stage again now :D the drummer asked if I'd be nervous, and I said that nerves show you care, but having previously played live to audiences of 2500/3000 people it wouldn't faze me.... Gosh I had an estimated audience of 3 million when I performed live on the telly in the UK, and an audience of tens of millions whilst on live telly in China on a classical tour!

Today I have been floating on a cloud of euphoria with aching fingers and tinnitus (sorted out proper musician earplugs for next weeks band practice!!)

Well done Debs, that's brilliant news.

You'll have to jam with Rosie, she's just taking her grade 8 on the electric guitar, playing a Metallica track.

Grade 8 is awesome :D Good luck to Rosie :D sounds like she needs a band :D

I reckon I'm probably around Grade 3/4 standard at the moment, be a while before my bass playing reaches those lofty heights  but I can hold down a decent groove which is the most important thing

Congratulations! What is the name of the band?

We are called "Not a Jukebox" :D

How exciting but just remember, when buying a used car, punch the buttons on the radio. If all the stations are rock and roll, there's a good chance the transmission is shot.

Shall keep that in mind Cloots :P:wink:
