I passed

Recommended Posts

yipee  at 49 I thought I had finished with exams but got railroaded at work into doing another module. Like may practice nurses I have collected certificates & diplomas over the years including a BSc & an MSc and somehow didnt bother doing a diploma in COPD. It was just one of those things! I was doing the job & had been teaching others about the subject & really didn't want to bother getting another bit of paper to decorate my wall with, but the PCT insisted that the named nurse lead for resp[iratory care had to have the diploma. so I agreed to do it only if the GP did it too  The other docs thought that was a great idea, poor chap was terrified. Thankfully we both passed, how embarrassing it would have been if I had failed.

Heartfelt well done from me, as I have been in the same position and found out on Wednesday that I had passed my Post Grad in Public Relations at the age of 45.

Sadly I was encouraged to do it by the Wicked Witch of the West who has now manipulated a reorganisation to get rid of me, which is a bit of a poo, as the post grad is now pointless. Currently applying for jobs outside of the organisation, but the public sector is currently under attack, so chances of finding anything pretty slim.

Even more unfortunately drank nearly a whole bottle of cava to celebrate and wrote very ascerbic e-mail to Head of HR about my predicament. Not good career move. Still, gave me a lot of pleasure at the time.

You have to snatch your enjoyment where you can!

Oh CN a post grad is never pointless, times are hard at the moment on the new job front, but if you have been squeezed out of a job then thats constructive dismissal, Id get some professional careers advice -, are you a member of a union or proffessional body?

I hope the headache is better after the cava

No, the Wicked Witch of the West is very clever, she has dismantled my team, ditched those of my staff she doesn't like along with areas of work she didn't want, and annexed the remainder to one of her teams, whilst offering me a junior role as a team member in my own team, under one of her managers! (but on the a protected salary). I know I shouldn't moan, I still have a job at Xmas when many others don't, but I have worked my self half to death over the last five years to make a success of my team, and on at least 3 occasions missed my kids' sports days or Xmas shows to represent the organisation as I felt it was critical for its reputation. How stupid I have been - that sort of loyalty is never repaid these days.

Oh well, you live and learn.

Wont do it again. :(
