We have lost our Chilli man :-(

Recommended Posts

Our wonderful, gorgeous boy has been run over :(:(:(

We are all devastated - he was a huge presence in this house & a massive part of our lives.

This home will never be quite the same again.

Can anyone recommend a way we can remember him. He was taken to the vets,& they have asked if we would like him back to bury. I think not - I would rather remember him as he was,but we do have the option of cremation,& scattering him in the garden or something.

Would love to hear what others have done :)

Oh Cinnamon, I'm so sorry to hear that - I remember when he went missing once, how worried you all were - so sad to think he is gone. It leaves a huge gap, doesn't it - and so upsetting.

Afraid I have no tips - one little cat is buried in the garden, but mostly I've left them at the vets, and made a donation to the Cat's Protection League rather than pay the cost of cremation and ashes return. You could buy a plant, and put it in one of his favourite spots?

I'm sorry how sad. I have seen some pebbles or large stones which can be personalised with a name or date so could be kept or placed to mark a special spot. At Christmas time we decorate our dwarf apple tree with baubles one for each of our family, friends and pets who have passed on.

Very sorry to hear that Cinnamon, its devastating when they go :(

About 10 years ago we lost a cat to traffic and having seen his body I didn't want to bury it, or the ashes. We remembered him through his brother, who was very similar and who died naturally just 2 years ago. I didn't want his ashes either, and I'm afraid I haven't planted anything in his memory; I found him dead in the garden under a tree and in the circs planting something else wasn't comforting to me. However, we still talk about him a lot and that keeps his memory alive, together with his photo which is still in the kitchen.

Sarah, I'm so sorry, it is so devastating when this happens. I remember reading about him on here too.

We weren't able to have Dave back so we've not got a memorial for him in the garden. He's my screen lock on my phone. I used to have a black cat statue that looked like him so I might see if I can get another one.

A plant with Chilli in the name might be a nice way to remember him (chilli plants are annual I think so probably no good).

So sorry again. :(

Thanks everyone.

I have found a place that does nice stone memorials - natural looking,& they can go in water,so that may be nice placed by our bubble pond.

I am also thinking about maybe having part of his ashes turned into a piece of jewellery. Not everyone's cup of tea I agree, but I like the idea of having him around all the time.

I am not into big pieces of jewellery,so am looking around for something a bit more discreet than most I have looked at so far

We lost Arthur to the road earlier this year (despite moving to a very quiet cul de sac after losing Evie). I had him cremated by the vet, and we have a painting of a cat that looks like a white Arthur (he was black and fluffy). We call it Angel Arthur. It's a bit silly and kitsch, but it reminds me of him every time I pass it on the stairs.

So sorry to hear about Chilli, it's been completely devastating every time we've lost one

So sorry. We buried out lovely Hazel in our garden and put a little stone cat there to mark the spot. A few years later we moved - this is definitely something to think about if you bury pets in your garden as you might not always live there. We brought the stone cat with us but it is not the same. Other pets we have lost we have left at the vets to be taken care of and we just have our memories and photos.

I am so sorry to hear this, I too remember how worried you were about him when he went missing and someone else kept taking his collar off :(

WE have taken cuttings from a fuscia that our old cat Toffee nearly destroyed in a fight with the local tom cat not long before she died, she was a fiesty lady even in her old age. We now have lots of her fuscias around the garden and the original is still just about alive too. Did he have a favourite plant to sit under in the garden?
