My daughter, who is the eldest, has finished her final GCSE today. I feel a bit sad as it doesn't seem that long ago she was starting primary school. She is now at a birthday party/celebrating finishing school party at a friends dressed up as Flynn Rider from Tangled (they all had to wear Disney character costumes, and she is not a girly girl). Now just the stress build up of exam results day in August and onto 6th in September  and then it all starts again with my son who is starting year 10 in Sept and YD who will be yr 10 next Sept

Wooo, well done that girl :clap:

Put the kettle on and bask in the Smug Mum glow

Which reminds me.... Rosie came 4th out of 21 girls in her age group at the Derby Triathlon yesterday - in the pouring rain. With weather conditions like that it was more of an endurance event though

She also won the 1,500m at an inter-school competition last week; four schools took part.

We managed to meet Robert after the afternoon interview for BBC5 Live at CineWorld. He knew that we were coming. but was still stunned that we all came from so far. He gave us all big hugs & kisses :D

When we were waiting for the interview at the Traverse theatre in the evening, his PA came up to us & told us that he had mentioned us on a later interview that he did that afternoon for the Culture Show. He was saying what respect he had for us going so far, just for him. It took my Mexican friend 11 hours to get there, from Cornwall, it took me 19 hours

Then we saw him afterwards. I told him about how much of an affect one of his films had had on my life, & he gave me the biggest hug & I got loads more kisses :) Then he just held me around the waist for the next 5 minutes as he spoke to other people :D

I also spoke to his wife, who is soooo lovely :D

At the end, after he had signed & posed for everyone who wanted his attention, I got another kiss & he said how much he appreciated what I'd told him. He is such a beautiful, humble, caring man; it was the best day of my life :D

Lovely day spent with ED in Bristol including girlie lunch. :D

OH had a meeting at lunchtime so suggested that I came along and went for lunch with ED who is staying on in her halls until she takes the tenancy of her flat for next year next week. She will come home for the summer after we have moved her in, can't believe that her first year at uni is over.

I have a horse fly bite on the back of my hand, it's over a week old now and I brushed the ruddy fly off as soon as I felt it, but it is still swollen and sore... could be worse; could've been a Blandford fly I guess!

On another note, i spent an hour this afternoon with the local police rural liaison officer; despite the amount of security we have on the estate, we still get break-ins and theft with 'sorts' nicking everything from diesel to deer, to one of the Landrovers (since recovered) A fortnight ago, they nicked a night vision camera from the woods (put up to try and catch them), an electric fence power unit, and in the last couple of days 20 enormous galvanised Eltex pheasant feeders have been taken... they would have needed at least 2 people and a truck to get them out.

They are cutting their way through 8 foot high deer fencing and have shot and butchered one of the Sika deer too :( I now have these spot DNA kits (one step up from Smart Water) so we can tag everything that could be stolen. It makes me so cross.

Basil the bad (our now neutered kitten) was surrounded by teenage girls who were shrieking at him and cooing over him when I left for work tonight - ES bought a load of them home with him  why do girls shriek - I cant remember shrieking - giggling yes but aaah - mums of teenage girls - I feel your pain. I think Bas is being used as a "babe magnet"

I seem to have been really busy since I've moved home!

I went to Venice 2 weeks ago, then Stage Managed a production of Oliver for the Brit Youth Theatre last week, went to London this weekend to see the gf, off to Edinburgh later this afternoon, back to Uni next week for Graduation and then I'm off to Paris the week after! :D

I don't lead a bad life ;)

Though tbh Venice flights were £35 return and Edinburgh is £2.50 return!!

Proud Mum Moment... just been to Rosie's school awards ceremony (combined with the year 11's graduation). She's still in year 10, but won a commendation as the most outstanding student in her year, and her tutor said to me that she was the most able student she'd ever taught. I tried not to cry!
