Have been sitting outside in the dark, much to the puzzlement of our two cats, to watch the Perseids meteor shower. Put out the deck chairs so we could look mostly upwards and relaxed. The sky was a little patchy with cloud drifting across but we could see the plough and could separate the two starts called Alcor and Mizor in the handle, so perhaps not too bad. The Perseus constellation always seemed to have a thick covering of cloud, but we spotted four or five good bright shooting starts and a few maybes. Also saw one or two satellites and a lots of planes. Unfortunately the clouds took over so we came in after about an hour and left the cats in charge of the garden once again.

Iwas very lucky and saw two shooting stars and lots of tiny pinprick flashes which I think might be meteors. It was a lovely night here for it.

I also had a quick panic because I saw two planes that were going to crash but then realised one of them was a reflection of the actual one. They did collide but all was well.

We went outside too, where we live there are no street lights so it is good for star watching.

DD, OH and I went out for a while and saw quite a few, some real bright ones.

The dogs were a bit confused as we left them inside. We were amazed at how noisy the sheep were

Found out yesterday that Basil our big kitten's dad has been free and easy with the un neutered lady cats in their street. One cat had 8 kitties and another lot on the way. Lots of little mini me's of Bazza walking round. Told OH who has ginger cat fetish and is in cat heaven with 2 ginger boys that if either pass on he needs to drive down the road to get another. It is naughty not getting your cats neutered. We have visions of Bazza's dad who is a bruiser going about inpregnating the local she cats. Bazza is going to be a big lad, he has huge paws and a very long tail.

My OH is going away without me for nearly 3 weeks in November. I'm devastated :lol::lol:

Too many lols, not appropriate!

I look on it positively, but have to admit that last time he did this I burst into tears when I met him at arrivals.

BECAUSE I MISSED HIM PEOPLE! What are you like thinking that it was because he was back

I sometimes wish for a morning or dare I say it a day alone, then I see so many elderly who live alone and I think "careful what you wish for". I would like a house which didnt look like a bunch of male students lived there with their tribe of cats. My vase of flowers looks sad in amongst the male paraphenalia.

Same here, re the day alone. Eaecially at the moment. My daughter left school ealier this year and has pretty much been at home since. Much as I love her, I could do with some time with her away.

As for the flowers, buy more! Have huge bunches of gorgeous blooms around the place. Get cushions in your most loved colours and cover the sofas with them. Assert you within this maledom :D

I'm afraid OH and I are still pathetically reliant on each other and are happiest when we're together - I think we get judged for that. That being so one of my greatest luxuries is having the house to myself. I don't know why because I love my family dearly but if all their various shifts mean I'm home alone I get a little thrill.

It's always very cosy though as they all drift in home at the end of the day. I like that too.

Yes. It's so nice to be able to start a task or even a thought and be able to finish it.

My family are a dreadful distraction "Hey Mum, shall we do this, come and see this, do you want a coffee, shall we watch some Frasier while dad's out?" All things I want to do and they spoil me but quiet is such a nice thing too.

To be fair most of the time my OH and I get on very well and enjoy our leisure time together, but he has got a spiteful temper. This tends to show itself when he is stressed at work. He is very self centred which most of the time is ok because I am very laid back, but I do get cross when he acts like a child or belittles me or the children. He is also a nightmare to go shopping with, he loves to shop unlike many men, but when he has finished in a shop he just walks out and onto the next one regardless of anyone else in the group who might still be browsing.

I know that I would be lonely without him, but he does drive me crazy at times.

That would drive me mad too Liz, although I admit to not really liking shopping myself  I tend to rush in, get what I want and head out, but I don't do that if I have others in tow.

Phil (when he's around at weekends) is very considerate and not at all clingy; we each get on with our own things, and when we are out looking at things or shopping, then we tend to go our separate ways and meet up later. We recognise that we have our different styles and tastes and don't fight it.

I hear that middle lane hoggers, tailgaters and drivers using phones will now be fined - be 'frayed'... be very 'frayed'. 8)

Excellent - don't suppose it will help with the *** not very nice person *** who KEPT hooting at me yesterday because I had a left box junction (think that's what they're called, the ones with yellow hatching) empty in front of me whilst sitting in a line of traffic. This meant traffic could come and go from the junction to the right (the reason for the box junction, I believe), but this guy behind me kept hooting (not like I could have gone anywhere anyway, only a couple of cars' lengths further forward) and the LOOK he gave me as he overtook me (speeding) later was quite something ...

Is it me? :anxious:

Totally agree with you, it makes me very irritated when people misuse grids/boxes (whatever they are called) and block them so no traffic can get through. It's not like it saves any time when the traffic is queued solid ahead of you! And that's before we even start debating the lack of common (or not so common?) courtesy...
