Very distressed yesterday to look out of my bedroom window and see a dead cat in my front garden :( It wasn't one of mine. and I didn't recognise it although there are several local cats often in the back garden. It was hardly visible from downstairs, it was only because I happened to be looking down that I saw it. I live on quite a busy road and I am guessing it got hit by a car and probably made it to the safety of my border before expiring.

I was on the point of leaving the house with a deadline to meet, and the vets was closed, so I had to pop poor pussy in the garage, I have delivered him/her to the vets today, they will check if he's microchipped. I feel terribly sad for the owner but at least (I hope) they will find out what happened to their pet.

I was irritated by a man yesterday who was trying to get his son to behave and do as he was asked. He spent a long time pleading and saying please over and over again in a quite unmanly voice and then started counting. No wonder the child - who was about 7 and knew he was being naughty - didn't respond. I wanted to say TELL him what to do and tell him to do it now.

I didn't want to hear him shout at the boy, but somehow take charge, if he doesn't soon it's going to get a lot harder.

Huuummmm, we'd planned to go to the Warwickshire and West Midlands Game fair today, checked the website for directions, pottered over there only to find that it had been cancelled due to flooding. Just checked the website again on our return and it now shows that it's cancelled. 80 miles round trip..... what a shame.

Arrived at my house this morning (in Derby) and noticed a strange smell as I walked in the door, turns out my fridge freezer has died and all the meat (got a good deal from the local butcher) defrosted and had been decomposing :vom: . I haven't even had this fridge for 1 month yet  .

Please keep your fingers crossed for me. ES received an email when we were on holiday re his room in Halls at Uni. It had a deadline of 3 days and as he didn't respond, the room has been given to someone else. We now have to wait to see if a room becomes available somewhere else  I do wish people would put read receipts on important emails like this. In hindsight we should have found somewhere to check his emails while we were away but we were not expecting it

That is great news about the room in halls :D Such a relief!

I made most of my best uni friends in halls. There were 24 rooms in our block, 4 were for foreign students doing part years. So out of the 19 other rooms (not including my own) I would consider 9 of the occupants amongst my very best friends....and this is 15 years since I first lived with them. I met my OH in halls (tho we didn't get together until three years later) and two other friends from halls are now married with kids. I am still in contact, and occasionally see, another 3 or 4. I hope your son has as much luck as I did and is put with a good bunch of people. :D

Went to see Lion King last night - OH me and 2 boys - truely wonderful. Sooo expensive to go to theatre even with various deals etc. We had a back pay from E-on from our old house (left 6 yrs ago) for £97 so that went towards it - thanks E-on. Absolutely cream crackered this morning as got in late and off to work soon YAWNS.

Went to a Food and Drink Festival in Sefton Park, Liverpool today. Got the train, sampled the delicious food and drink available. It was a beautiful sunny day. There were loads of interesting stalls, entertainment and demonstrations. Met friends there and had thoroughly lovely time.

Bought some Quail and plan to eat them for lunch tomorrow. My OH loves his Sunday lunch. It's a real ritual in this house, and must be ready for one o'clock! (his rules, not mine!)

Went to see a chick flick with 2 friends on Friday - sadly it didnt go to plan. Wanted to see" Wedding video" - but due to fact muggins here cant read properly and it wasnt due to start till midnight we ended up seeing "the watch" - it is truely awful despite Ben Stiler who is a great actor. Language and content way to fruity for me ( I am not prude) and why are the Americans obsessed with aliens. Any of you lot who go to Costco regularly - you might not after seeing this film. We had a laugh esp as my friend who is 50ish like me told us they charged her OAP rate last time she went. She doesnt look anything like an OAP. This time she paid full price. Now wheres my white rinse.

Some people  Lovely this evening so my evening walking companion ('old Dave') and I decided to walk across some newly ploughed fields; all four of the dogs were looning around and doing no harm when this bloke with a dog walked towards us, he was on the phone but interrupted his conversation long enough to shout 'you want to get those *bleeping* dogs under control'. Dave and I looked at each other, shrugged and I said 'good evening' with a grin as we passed. Not the response he expected I guess but it was either that or ask him if he'd had a bad day.

Why do people have to ruin a perfectly lovely evening?
