Chook n Boo Mum
Having met several past and present Mods, I can confidently say that they are a lovely bunch of people and all deserve a huge pat on the back for their behind the scenes work on here, I know I wouldn't have the patience they do sometimes ...I also have had a "slap on the wrist" pm....and "where are you, are you ok" pm...and many chatty pms with them.....and have taken to quoting Egluntyne whenever a chook owner asks why their bird is off-colour "have you wormed them?" Please don't give up Christian.....we loves you we do

Egluntyne
I have not accused you of 'dissing' this forum. I asked why the comments of other who were doing so needed to be brought here, and pointed out that Omlet would not allow the reverse to be the case. Chucky Mama
I think the point is that this thread was developing rather beautifully with old members and members that view without posting saying a quick hello. I have been reading with interest what people are doing now. Many I don't know and others I have wondered about. The negative comments re cliques and the moderating team, regardless of where they originated served no purpose here and have understandably caused some upset to those that give their free time. Of course comments like that are going to upset people, how could they not ...perhaps we can return to the thread and continue as was intended by the opening poster and positive contributors. * this post refers to an earlier 2 earlier posts make that have since been removed and implied that the forum was cliquey, knocking the rehoming policy and claiming the forum is run to suit the opinions and views of the mods
chickencam
The overall feel of this forum is warm and friendly and it is very much populated by intelligent and sensitive individual people who stand by their morals. Lets get back to memory lane I have been here for 5 very happy, informative and supportive years
Ms Marple
Hear, hear!! I have enjoyed reading most of this. It is the one and only forum that I have joined and sometimes posted on for the very reasons so many have given earlier on in the thread. Thank you Egluntyne for always being my oracle of chicken keeping knowledge I remember your first postings Plum.......you were sad and glum and posted but I can't remember why? Was it because you couldn't upload a picture ?? Christian please stay?
Plum
I couldn't work out how to put up an avatar Right so as we are on memory lane, which threads have made you laugh the most? I have had so many times I have read a thread and laughed out loud and had tears streaming down my face. I think Henthusiastic and her invasion of mice and her pain when we suggested she get rid of them must be one of the funniest
Looney
There used to be a football predictions thread with someone winning at the end of the season if they'd made the most accurate predictions. I was allowed to join in even though I don't follow football at all So whilst others were using knowledge of previous form, injuries etc I was just making random guesses loads of fun and I didn't do too badly either
Egluntyne
I think Henthusiastic and her invasion of mice and her pain when we suggested she get rid of them must be one of the funniest Didn't 'someone' send her a peppermint scented ball of cotton wool to scare them away, or similar? Space Chick
The "I wish to make a complaint about my hen rights" thread that run about three years ago probably was hilarious. Linky linky
stu
I think my forst couple of posts were in Nov 2009, and the one I can find was about someone wondering how to get an Eglu for Christmas. Between that post and rcently, I didn't come here at all. My comments about cliques were not intended to be 'negative'. I find them (cliques) a perfectly acceptable way to manage large groups, so I apologise if my comments were read as such.

The Dogmother
We've had a few moments which have very nearly needed resuscitation on here in the past Looking back, i think there was more banter when the forum was smaller but that doesn't mean that it's any less enjoyable now. I often wonder what happened to some member who haven't posted for a while; I 'found' one not long ago when I was shopping in Stratford on Avon; much to DS's embarrassment, this woman shouted 'chicken lady!' across a shop at me. I'm terrible with faces and names but she reminded me that she was an occasional forum poster and had met me previously. Thank goodness I hadn't been buying anything embarrassing or personal. Rosie marched me out of the shop before I could heap any further indignities on her
chelsea
Just had to reply to this thread All alive & well here. I do lurk from time to time but like with everyone else, my path has taken a different direction - working, busy Mummy to two boisterous fur-kids, travelling the country in our campervan. The help 6 years ago when we first joined from the forum was invaluable, made some great friends & I still do think this forum is very friendly & welcoming compared to others. I was a mod for just over a year or so and what a task it is, really opens your eyes what goes on behind the scenes - I couldn't keep up with it all in the end. So to those mods who still do it I applaud you!

Redwing
A lovely thread (in the main) I also wonder what happened to some forum members, I think 99% of those who dont post now didnt leave because of the forum atmosphere but simply because their lives changed or they 'moved on' This is a massively calm forum mainly due to the work of the mods, if anyone thinks this is cliquey then pay a visit to the Horse and Hound forum where there is just a lone indifferent mod - members actually eat people overe there If I remember correctly the ban on rehoming came after a few people in receipt of chickens found that they had health or behavioural issues which were a far cry from their official reason for being rehomed - a fair rule that has protected kind hearted members from being taken in There was an excellent member on here who wanted to expand information on chickens as pets in Ireland, I often wonder what happened there and what they are up to now. sometimes I see set ups being sold on ebay that I recognise as a forum members and feel sad they are giving up I'm not on here as much as I used to be simply because my real life world is so hectic but I do try to look in as much as I can This forum has changed my life in a way, I have so many friends in real life that I have met on here some of my closest friends in fact that I am in daily contact with and I work for a company owned by the family of a forum member, I think if you are involved in something in a big way its influence never leaves you

Snowy
Having been a mod and recently stepped down, I can confirm that it is a thankless task! You do have to put your enjoyment of the forum on hold a bit and concentrate on keeping things clean and tidy. I've been a member since 2006 and this was my first experience of a forum - to me it has always had a very welcoming feel. I am always impressed when I see people whose first posts asking for advice have been replaced by posts offering advice and reassurance We all develop different interests and wander off to different forums, but I think most of us still come back here. I went off and joined a camping forum and made a mischievous post and got an instant ban! With no warning or explanation! I came scuttling back with my tail between my legs! Geoid
I think the mods do an excellent job and as a result, this is one of the nicest, most friendly forum there is!
The Dogmother
.................if anyone thinks this is cliquey then pay a visit to the Horse and Hound forum where there is just a lone indifferent mod - members actually eat people overe there That made me laugh; I am a member on a couple of lurcher, greyhound and lure racing forums, they take no prisoners on some of those either, but one of the lurcher ones is lovely; like here, some of the members have been there a long time and there are obvious groups of folks who live close and know each other well. I've never felt left out though.

counturchickens
Omlet is the first forum I have been a member of, I can't really imagine going on another. For me it's nice to have a place to exhange ideas and news with like minded people, then I don't have to bore my other friends with chicken and veggies I do come on most days, does that mean I am an addict ? Well done to the mods too, I hadn't thought about all the work involved!
Guest
I love this place and often browse posts for things not even vaguely chickeney! That's what is so lovely about it! I bought my EGLU from the lovely Olly! I found out so much from my visit to her and I would not be without chickens now! When I was dog-longing - It was lovely to read about other people plans and experiences and to eventually share the news that I was now a dog-mum! Many thanks to Dogmother and others who helped with my silly questions!!!! And to Christian - who got Milo at about the same time as I got Tanner! I love this place - a big thanks goes out to all the mods who keep it the wonderful place it is!
Seagazer
I love this forum, it's by far the friendliest that I've been on. I'm not on as much now, I think to begin with I was constantly on as I had a massive panic once the chickens were delivered by Darren (I think that was him)! I have had just one slap on the wrist and yes I hung my head in shame (not a swear word)! I'll probably still come on even after my last chickens have gone, I just don't post as much. Mods do a fantastic job
