The Dogmother
a bit cold here with a bit of wind but a reasonably pleasant winter morning Same here, although it's clouding over now. Much warmer than yesterday.
Valkyrie
Not bad outside yesterday. Today damp - rather wet in Abingdon though! Got back here and it was dry. Was nice to see some sunshine though. Still rather nippy. Well I guess that's to be expected!
soapdragon
Fffffffreeezing here just south of Oxford! The biting wind doesn't help. I did a 3.3 mile village circuit this morning in 36 mins and, in spite of hat, gloves, warm coat and thick socks, still felt cold when I got home! Baked potatoes for supper, I think. Blackrocksrock
We still have snow lying and icy roads in the mornings - cold winds snowy showers.
sjp
it's cold here but not unbearable to be out in I've spent most of the morning sitting on the drive swapping the blades around on my garden shredder 4 sets about an hour each to free up and put back together was hopping to do the lot in an hour and half
Daphne
Jolly cold for the first time this winter, max 11, min of 3, and sunny but strong easterly wind....right up my back whilst planting agapanthus and trees. Scuttled inside and it's taken 3 hours to warm the sitting room up, usually toasty in an hour. We are using oak logs today instead of the eucalyptus, and I am putting extra chilli on my dinner
Ursula123
Very chilly here, we are forecast -3 tonight and then tomorrow night we are due -5, I saw that cinnamon has snow and she is not too far from me.
sjp
miserable grey damp morning here today mix of low cloud and mist and next to no wind to sift it that's my stint cutting fire wood done of the week
Daphne
Light frost overnight, first of the year. Had to put the heater on the bedroom too this morning for the first time. Bright and sunny now, but cold. Holding off lighting the fire for as long as poss, I hope Cinnamon is sleeping indoors, not in her caravan! Beantree
The forecast was for frost last night but we didn't get below 1C; not unusual in the 'microclimate' here. The snow forecast this morning didn't arrive and the winds are much lighter, but there's time for it to change. With the temperature outside now up to just 3C it's the first time we've not been out continuously; central heating is inside doing its job! Forecast is -5C tonight and I doubt we will escape that, so drinkers will be emptied and refilled in the morning. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow so hopefully it won't feel that cold at the Christmas Market.
Ursula123
I didn't realise that you were also in France Beantree. I am in Lot et Garonne, close to Gironde and the Dordogne. We looked at a house in Gers beautiful views looking at the Pyrenees.
Beantree
It's -6C outside, but dry and sunny so will be a nice day. No snow. We bought a place and moved in August Ursula123 having been looking for 5 years. Traded mountain views for West wind shelter based on our rental experiences, but a 5 minute walk gives us a great view of them. We rented in the Dordogne for a year looking at places in Lot but changed our area based on the weather.
Lewis
We have snow in Slovakia this morning! 1oC and starting to settle I have friends visiting next weekend for my birthday and it always looks so nice when it's crunchy and white outside ...hate the grey sludgy stuff
soapdragon
Happy Birthday for next weekend, Lewis! Hope you get lots of lovely white, crunchy snow! Its damp and gloomy in south Oxfordshire...........that sort of fine rain that you don't even notice until you suddenly realise that you are wet! Perfect 'hair frizzing' damp
The Dogmother
Damp. miserable and misty here, although it's not massively cold.
sjp
started off damp this am but brightened up about 11ish (about the time the breeze picked up) for an hour or so then went grey but it wasn't to bad to work in at least I managed to get some fire wood cut and stacked and the mob had a few hours FR
Valkyrie
Murky but not too bad. We have had some sunshine. Blink and you miss sort of sunshine.
soapdragon
We may have had the odd flash of sunshine but I think I blinked at the wrong time! Otherwise darn chilly and with a very 'low' looking pale sky. Definately soup and baked potato weather.

sjp
Looking forward to the cold crisp sunny weather returning this weekend same here today's been dull no breeze at all to shift the clouds and a bit muggy till late afternoon the gnats have had a field day with me hedge cutting in the morning clearing leaves all afternoon not fun
soapdragon
Seems the forecasters are promising us another storm (Caroline) over the next few days with 80 mph winds Don't like strong winds; makes me worry about the roof and our fences - also trees coming down
The Dogmother
We've had gnats and flies here too sjp. It is getting windier and starting to rain; could be interesting driving to work in the morning... think I will stick to the main roads rather than the lanes! sjp
it was a half decent day yesterday had a bit of sunshine midday and warm enough to leave the coat off at the moment it's wet and windy here but it's not the howling gale We were forecast just hope the rain stops mid morning as forecast as it looks like tomorrow isn't going to be a dry day after all
The Dogmother
None of the extreme weather which we were predicted has materialised. Icy cold and a bit blowy, but that's about it. Weather app on my phone says that it will start around 08:30.... we'll see!
sjp
it started here about 6am eased off about 8am then cleared up about 10am nice sunny morning till about 5mins ago when it started to cloud over again it's still windy but nothing major snows only wet rubbish stuff off the Atlantic mind there's at least 2 schools local that have panicked and closed for the day one barely gave 15mins notice, main roads were clear paths were just wet snow inch at most. a few folk were moaning in the supermarket when I went shopping that no one knew about the snow coming I held off snapping at them
