Luvachicken
I usually use little pots of Nivea lip stuff on my lips. My lips are hardly ever dry but I do feel like I lick them often and just wanted them to feel more moist. I have used Burt's Bees before but not for a while and sometimes used the Nivea chap stick type ones, but I have spotted recently Raspberry and white chocolate made by BeeGood and wondered if it gives the effect I'm after or if O should stick to the Nivea ones. It was only a small tube and cost over £4 so quite expensive for a small amount. Does anyone have any recommendations for something that makes your lips feel nice without having to put something on too many times ? Cat tails
I only use it when I actually dry lip, so real recommendations. Using it too much and too often will actually make your lips dry. A friend used to use Labello so much, she is practically addicted in a way she can't go without since her lips are parched otherwise. mullethunter
I use Blistex Relief Cream from Superdrug. I've used (and occasionally still do as I have one in every bag / vehicle I use) lots of others but this is absolutely head and shoulders above them all. I put it on every morning and most days don't need to reapply until at least lunch time, if at all. http://www.superdrug.com/Blistex/Blistex-Relief-Cream-5g/p/512958
soapdragon
I use lipsalve all the time and have some on my bedside table, in the kitchen and in my purse. I love Burt's Bees as they also do the coloured ones so like lipstick but more subtle. Although I need a lip moisturiser all the time I am very aware that what goes onto the skin, and esp the lips, goes straight into the body! Hence Burt's Bees which is pretty harmless IMHO. There are others out there inc Hurrah which I have bought online. Recently I was at a Christmas Fair where there was a small, local company doing skin care inc lip salves and I bought some lovelies from them (they do mail order so PM if you'd like a link...they were only £3 and really nice )
Cinnamon
Lip Balm junkie here! I never wear lipstick, but love good quality lip balms so.................. BURTS BEES: Great for everyday use & smells wonderful. I always have a stick of it about my person. LANOLIPS: Slightly more expensive, but ultra nourishing & moisturizing. Comes in a tube, & have various flavours & shimmery shines. The Lemon one is my favourite. Great for rubbing in to your cuticles too! MALIN & GOETZ: On the more expensive side, but fabulous. Its glossy without being sticky & deeply moisturising, plus they do Mojito flavour! DIOR LIP GLOW: My favourite, which I wear every day. Its a lip balm which has a tint of colour in it, depending on your skins PH. On me it is a really natural bitten looking pink. It stays on for ages & it the best thing for lips ever! Daphne
That's really helpful Cinnamon, thank you I also love lip moisturiser, but like several people I have tried to wean myself off it, and am now down to one on bedside table, one in handbag and one floating about I find I need it more in the UK than in Portugal. I like Palmer's Cocoa Butter for everyday as I find it stays in place and is quite deep and thick and I think it is doing its job. It smells of chocolate which can be a boon or a turn off. I really don't like Labello, its thin and sticky and disappears quickly. I quite like Burts Bees, the only snag being that it is tinted.....and I often apply the stuff without a mirror..... soapdragon
Not all Burt's Bees is tinted! I use their untinted most of the time but, if I am going to be 'out and about' use the pencil like ones that are coloured. Hurrah are lovely too in many, many flavours! Valkyrie
Vaseline if I need to use anything at home. I'm pretty much allergic to other lip things. Hubby uses Norwegian Formula when we go walking for protection from wind or sun. I will carry a Chapstick or Nivea when walking.
Luvachicken
Thanks for all of those suggestions Some of them sound very yummy. Thinking I will put some on my Christmas list.
dancing cloud
Vaseline with aloe vera - the green tin. Also good for healing a red chapped nose when you've got a dripping cold
Bramble
Oooh, I'm a lip balm addict I actually find it's helpful sometimes for weight loss (if I'm craving something sweet, some flavoured lip balm seems to help - obviously I don't eat it though!) I might just have ordered a Hurraw one (not heard of those before - the latest Omlet must have!!) by accident I must admit my usual fall back is the Body Shop - I think I have just about every flavour they make - current favourite being Honeymania ... might have to Google some of the others mentioned above!! Cinnamon
I have found somewhere that ships Hurraw ones to France for free, so have bought a few! Never heard of them before either, but the flavours are very tempting...Chai Tea is a perfect gift fot the Daughter. I love that they do one especially for bedtime use too, with scents to soothe you to sleep
patsylabrador
Carmen, it's excellent and heals up little splits from the cold almost instantly.

soapdragon
I went to the hairdressers yesterday (I do, from time to time, in spite of appearances !) and found a wonderful little shop had just opened next door to it - its in a little village, down a side street! They sell fab, local stuff from knitted things to home made sweets to keyrings to coasters but, best of all masses of home/hand made creams, room diffusers, lipsalves, bath products, deodorant etc. All natural, mostly organic and great value...lipsalve in a twist up tube at £2! The room diffuser that I bought is frankinsence, clove, ginger, orange and very Christmassy. Made from glycerine and natural oils....if you take back the empty bottle for a refil you get 10% off and another bundle of reeds free! Daphne
Wow = that is seriously good value I much prefer my lipsalve in a push up thing, I know where my fingers have been It sounds good for all sorts of other goodies as well, I feel Xmas stocking fillers coming on! Luvachicken
That sounds like a lovely village shop The diffuser idea sounds fab - I've been looking for another one as I was given a Frankincense one last year and loved the smell of that. Any chance you could tell us where the little shop is ? Could be a nice day out.
soapdragon
Yes, of course...delighted to share! Its in Benson, Oxfordshire not too far from Wallingford. www.uglyapples.co.uk. They do mail order! However, if anyone is making the trip over please PM me as I am only 10 mins/2 villages away so would love to meet up with peeps! There is a great greengrocer in the village as well as an excellent traditional butcher, furniture restoration (shabby chic stuff!) and very classy charity shop and also a wonderful cafe right on the river Thames so well worth a visit! Also very close to Dorchester on Thames whose abbey is worth a nose round too. And no, I don't work for the Oxfordshire tourist board! Just passionate about local! Mods....hope its OK to post 'recommendations' -
Christian
I *cough* never use lip balm, but have one in every pocket, bag, allotment shed, car etc. Usually the black chapstick, green 'Hallo Vera' tin but the BEST one is Nipple balm for lips by Dr Lipp. £9 a tube, but you need 1mm from the tube, it stays on for hours and one tube has lasted me 9+ months. It's in my waistcoat pocket for work as my lips really dry out when I'm flying (my job).

Valkyrie
Christian! Interesting. Funny that I use Udderly Smooth for my hands - great for sore quilty fingers - and it was originally made for cows with mastitis! Wouldn't use it on my mouth though. And just remembered the one I like best - Lypsyl! I've been racking my brains because I knew I'd missed one out. I've never had problems with it and just the plain old one. Chapsticks I do use but prefer the Lypsyl by miles.
Cinnamon
My Hurraw ones arrived today & they are very nice. I especially like the Cinnamon one, which has a lovely tint of colour & smells fantastic
bluekarin
I too used to be addicted to lip balm to the point my lips got parched if I didnt use it for a while. I weaned myself off it a bit and try not to use it too often. I am currently using black chap stick at bedtime, and i carry a tin of nivea aloe vera for lips but is also, as mentioned, fab for dry hands. I used to use Carmex all the time. I love how it's slightly menthol. I shall have to look out for the others mentioned though
