How can I find my old pictures?

Inspired by conversation in Thread of little things, I wondered where people would love to live if not in their current home. This question is just about dreams, forget politics and reality, just where really appeals in your heart, not in your mind. It can be somewhere you've visited or somewhere you dream about, it's not important. 

 

I want to live in Japan for many reasons. I love it there, if I could upsticks tomorrow and move there I would. Two countries that also appeal with no real knowledge are Vietnam and Cambodia. The history, scenery, architecture and food fascinate me. The thought of living somewhere like that is quite exciting.

Canada for me, but in truth just a forest anywhere would do. I’ve decided I want to live in a proper forest one day.

For me: Norway, Canada, India, or Japan, probably.

Japan may actually become a possibility for us as the company my husband works for is doing a lot of business out there at the moment, and the far-east is becoming the largest growth area. The problem there is that we can't adopt and our marriage wouldn't be recognised... so if we did go, I wouldn't want it to be for long. Same story in India - though I think the heat would probably kill me eventually. lol

We're ultimately going to end up living in the EU, probably France or Germany. Sadly, the UK just doesn't feel like home anymore - nor does it feel that safe anymore! I do love France and Germany, so that's not so bad - but I'd like to live somewhere with a bit of scenery and a few hills as opposed to just a city.

For myself I love England and wouldn't want to live anywhere else - I'd just love a bigger house! :-0

West of Ireland, specifically Feakle in County Clare. Very green because it rains a lot and was unspoilt. What stopped us moving was the house prices went crazy and a lot of unsympathetic house building in the countryside spoilt it; by the time they closed the planning loopholes it was too late. But the people are lovely and so is the Guinness.

We lived in a forest in the Dordogne Cattails. Lovely in the heat of Summer but the rest of the year it was dark, cold and damp. We are now surrounded by open fields and love it, although  it is really too hot in Summer nowhere is going be perfect. Whether we can remain here is another question? Seems not yet being resident for 5 years may become a problem?

Australia - specifically Church Point in the Ku-ring-gai Chase national park just north of Sydney. I nearly made it out there to live permanently afternoon spending the best part of 18 months in Sydney in my early 20s, but then got the job and partner (who would never leave Cornwall) that I love in my home county and my plans changed. 

I love Cornwall, and much as I enjoy spending times in other parts of the UK I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in this country, but with no ties / considerations / reality it’d be Church Point for me.

Holland or, failing that, a castle (or pele tower - sp?) in Sctoland/The Borders or The Beara Peninsular. I hate cities but Bath is somewhere I think I might manage!!

Yes I thought about that, but ideally the house would be on a hillside with some fields in the valley. One can dream right?

It's funny really - I spent much of my youth travelling and dreaming about living abroad, which I did for a couple of spells. While I could pretty much live anywhere, in recent years I have lost those itchy feet and come to love England (well, mostly) and would prefer to stay here and use it as a base to travel from. 

Andy, have you been to Edinburgh? A lovely city, and one place that I would love to live in - Rosie lives there and loves the tolerance and inclusivity there.

Winters on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Australia, Spring and Summer somewhere near Toulouse, Autumn in Portugal.  Then I need 3 houses and 3 sets of staff to look after the animals!  Right, so that's not happening.  I might have to plump for France.

Some friends of mine lived in Sydney for a few years and loved it - but they tell me it's very, very warm!

I love Cornwall too. I could imagine myself retiring there... or completely at the other end of the country, at a small holding in the Highlands or something. 

Wherever I go, I'd like it to be somewhere with a lot of scenery. And friendly people, ideally.

Ooh a good question....I love Donegal and would happily live there tomorrow however when it's cold it's cold. 

 

I would love to live somewhere as warm as Australia with the beautiful Rocky Mountains! Oh and isnt too far away for family and friends! So Donegal I suppose on the one day a year its warm 😂😂😂😂

I used to live in Colorado, and although I never went that far into the Rockies - they are BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely amazing. Maybe I could put Colorado on to my list.

I’m just back in the UK after 5 years in Slovakia so fairly happy to have home comforts here for a while.

If I could live anywhere it would probably be Norway, I have quite a few friends there and a niche job specialisation that doesn’t exist there yet, so could set up a business, and I started trying to learn bits of the language. 
That said, I think moving anywhere on your own can be quite isolating.

I follow a few people on instagram just because they live in Norway! It looks stunning in both winter and summer🥰

Am living the dream - not moving anywhere else, all beautiful and almost isolated.  The community spirit which revolves around 2 villages and our hamlet is super.  Local shops are brilliant too - really lucky!  Years ago we looked into moving to Canada, but Toronto gets too hot in summer and if we moved over the other side, then too long a winter.  Not too keen on ice storms in Toronto either!
