Valkyrie
Pretty brooch, and lovely quilt. I like the dragonfly fabric.
Plum
That brooch is lovely. Nice present for her
craftyhunnypie
Love that brooch. I'd be very proud to wear something like that! Emma.x
Ygerna
Thank you for the kind words about the brooch. Good news, Gran has phoned to say thank you for the gift!
Valkyrie
Still quilting the tablecloth - on the last panel now so it looks like it will be ready this Christmas after all.
ubereglu
Still quilting the tablecloth - on the last panel now so it looks like it will be ready this Christmas after all. That's good to hear then!
henriette
Well, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Have just started the hood of grandson's coat and then it will be the sewing-up. That's the worst part. How big is your tablecloth Koojie? Valkyrie
It's 76 inches across/diameter - just enough to hang over the edge of our table. But I will have to do the binding next - getting lots of practice with that! Just been looking at all the books on Amazon. I decided to add the quilt books to the wish list when I discovered that the shopping basket already added up to £80! I haven't even started on the chicken books! henriette
Sounds familiar! We get all our books from Amazon and mine are always craft or animals which always seem to be very much more expensive than loved one's choice. We had our first pottery lesson yesterday, so I would now like a book on pottery That seems like a large table cloth to work at. Do you have to sew the binding on by hand? Valkyrie
I do the initial part of the binding on the machine, but when I tuck it over I do it by hand. I have lots of little clips to hold it all together and when I take out the last one it's "yippeee!"
craftyhunnypie
Been rooting out some nice wrapping for my Samhain gift - which I aim to post end of this week. Crafting wise - I've been knitting my little nephew a cardigan with super soft snowflake wool. Nearly done the back. Emma.x
Plum
Well done Koojie, labour of love that is. Must get on with my swap
henriette
I do the initial part of the binding on the machine, but when I tuck it over I do it by hand. I have lots of little clips to hold it all together and when I take out the last one it's "yippeee!" After all that work, are you sure you will really want to use it?? Valkyrie
After all that work and all the nagging from OH to get it finished - you bet it will be used. I will probably do something unmentionable to the person or persons who spill anything on it though! I will take a piccy when it's in situ. There is a photo somewhere on here taken when I was putting the layers together.
Valkyrie
It's on this page: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=44545 Not sure how the linky bit works - this seems to forward it to the page instead of open up a new page, then when you go back the original "has expired" - not too good with techno stuff. Blackrocksrock
It is beautiful - how can you bear to use it on the table for the inevitable will happen as you know it will!
henriette
Oh that table cloth is absolutely beautiful! What incredible patience you must have. Quite a masterpiece! I suppose even if it does get some spills on it, with all the various stain removal products available, it shouldn't be too much of a problem
Valkyrie
Well it is so heavily patterned hopefully spills won't show up at all. On the other hand it could be a table cover which is removed when the messy bunch sit up. We have a reclaimed pine table - quite undulating, so wobbly glasses are the norm. Christian
I made a fabric draught excluder for the lounge, with a little loop to hang from the door when not in use.
Valkyrie
Guess what I'm going to say Christian - it begins with a "p"?

Christian
Guess what I'm going to say Christian - it begins with a "p"? Sorry for the delay Koojie! craftyhunnypie
You could have put ears & a tail on it Christian & made a dacshund! Emma.x

Sheilaz
Very good, I like the door loop idea! My grandmother had a velvet dachshund one which I adored. If you could get some reasonable black or brown velvet, and give it a face & ears, I think that would look lovely.
