It's soo windy it blew one of my cats off the top of the fence!! She was NOT impressed
Purplemaniacs
Wow the photo of the tree down is very scary, glad you and your chooks are ok. Very windy again here today but I know we are getting off lightly compared to others. Part of a tree down when I took OH to the station at 6 this morning. Take care everyone. Christian
Gales here this morning and the large trees over the back are swaying in the wind. The howling kept me awake last night. Luckily my new garden is quite sheltered and the new WIR seems to be holding up well.
percy049
From about 10pm last night, the winds had started to pick up and was howling against the house and making it shudder slightly, we're not used to that here! When I looked out of my window this morning at 2am, the eglu had blown over a bush and was upside down! I had to go out and right it, the girls were fine thankfully, although they were covered in Aubiose and the roosting bars had come off! Gonna have to spend today sorting out the house although, they have laid their eggs early today, perhaps it was the fright! Nothing compared to what its like for some of you, but its pretty scary when your not used to it!
The Dogmother
Gales here overnight; had to shut all the windows again, then was woken in the wee hours by the phone ringing... unidentified number so I left it. Currently 7.7deg and sunny but the air pressure is low so it's changeable.
bluekarin
Very windy here today, and last night. Kept me awake Currently watching the fence and the trampoline and wondering which will be off first! It's got really dark again and started raining. The photos of that tree on your chickens house are quite scary Eggasperated. And the cat being blown off the fence! Sorry, can't remember whose it was. Poor thing but *sniggers* Keep safe everyone
Patricia W
Gusty, high winds in South Oxfordshire. Sky looks threatening although sunny at the moment. The winds in Great Yarmouth must have been something to blow over an eglu!
percy049
I know! The wind does sometimes get caught underneath the shelter and move the eglu slightly, but not that much!
abwsco
Gales again overnight and still now. Lashing rain has gone but for how long
Ain't Nobody Here
Not a twig or a branch moving and bright sunshine here now .
Olly
It's stopped raining, but still blowing a gale here - I've had to lock the catflap as it was blowing in and out constantly. I'm working from home today and was hoping to let the girls out over lunchtime, but I'm seriously thinking it's too windy. My bay tree in a pot has blown over, the wheelie bin was over - not seen it this windy for a while. I just hope the fence panels stay put. I've had to replace a couple every year since I moved here, and was hoping not to need any this year.
Alis girls
let girls out for a FR and they gave me a look reserved for lower life forms not a good feather day
The Dogmother
I have a couple of fence panels flapping around; they belong to the neighbour, so he can deal with it. It is so windy that it literally takes your breath away; I debated driving back to work, but as my car is parked at the bottom of the road (only space left when I came back last night) I decided that I'd probably get just as wet running to the car as running to work
Dizzy-Deb
Horrified this morning to get up, look up garden and see the chicken's 12ft x 8ft run flipped over on its back. Thankfully the was still standing and the chooks safely locked inside so could have been much much worse. A lot of damage has been done to the run, and all the inside perches broken, cube ladder disappeared...god knows where thats gone!! We were out at 7am with head torches trying to right it back up which we just about managed to do, as the WIR is sooo heavy. Got to sort out in insides now and somehow repair the damage done. Not a nice way to wake up
Eggasperated
Glad to hear your girls are ok Dizzy-Deb, this weather is making chicken keeping hard work. I'm beginning to think last years snow was preferable.
LolaLayla
Bit of respite here today. Although still blustery we had sunshine It was such a shock to see the sun, it made me realise how bad the weather here has been for ages.
The Dogmother
Clear here from about 2pm onwards, sounds as if the wind has died down too.
craftyhunnypie
Was quite calm at chook shutting in time - I was amazed. Got up a little bit now, but nothing compared to how it has been. Was upset today when I walked to the village shop. There is a house with chooks in the garden. They are normally in a make shift run with electric netting over the top. The netting is gone & the make shift run looks trashed. The poor chooks were all scared to come out of their coop. Will give the people a knock tomorrow & ask if they need any help to sort out the chook run. Poor things. I always shout hello to their chooks. I lost one of the run covers in the wind. Have resorted to clear plastic sheeting & bungees on some eglus, but even those were flapping yesterday! Emma.x

Cranberry
Its so windy here the cable holding the electrisity pole near the house snaped. I phoned the power company and told them it would bring down the stable. They sent out 3 trucks within 4 hours even though they are mad with emergency call outs. They even got the cage out and went up to cut the branches from the other pole. Very impressed and releaved as it is still blowing hard
chickencam
It was very wild here again this morning. I collected an egg from our wooden house and obviously hadn't bolted the door back on properly because the next thing there was a big bang and the door flew off, the girls didn't let the noise deter then they were stright out for a bit of FR although they didn't like the wind once they were out there. There were loads of traffic reports about blocked roads locally from fallen trees.

The Dogmother
Gorgeous this morning - cold at just 3deg but bright and calm. The birds seem to think it is spring and the blue tits are flirting and chasing each other through the bushes in the park.
