Cinnamon
A couple of years ago I bought 3 sets of cutlery - 12 of everything. Ample,I thought, for a family of 4. But over the past few months it has noticeably dwindled,& I now have only 4 forks left. I am having to scrabble around for them before every supper,& I know I can't buy more because the ones I bought have had a design change (I hate it when things don't match) And spoons...don't even get me started on spoons...I bought 8 new teaspoons before Christmas,& they too have trickled away. Am I the only person here with a cutlery-eating house?
Egluntyne
I wonder this too. Funnily enough it is forks that tend to go missing in my house. I think they get taken in lunch boxes and not returned. I bought some plastic ones to try to stop this. Not very green I know, but ......
Redwing
Spoons and forks go missing here for various animal/chook related reasons We ran out of cutlery at work once and had a cutlery amnesty which turfed up an enormous amount - some with eighties designs on
fluffy chick
(I hate it when things don't match) It's very trendy to have mis-matched stuff apparently, that's my excuse anyway
Sheilaz
Yes, but it's the spoons that disappear here, I think teaspoons live in a lost world with odd socks. However, went to see ED play a gig a few years back. She's quite versatile with her instruments, and even played the spoons....our soup spoons that we hadn't seen for ages! Cinnamon
The last stuff I got was Tesco Finest,& I love it ...lovely square shaped handles. They don't do it now,but there is some similar in John Lewis. I will have to stick s fork into my handbag & see how close they match (note to self - remember to put it back in the cutlery drawer afterwards!) snowberry
Be careful Cinnamon, a fork in the handbag may constitute an offensive weapon to some misguided shop staff.... I've found it hard to match up my lovely forged cutlery set....I can't find anything similar at a reasonable price. All the missing sock s & cutlery go to the island with Shergar, Elvis & Lord Lucan on it so that they can eat their dinner with it.... & so what to using plastic forks for school? I wash & reuse mine!
Chucky Mama
We were down to 2 teaspoons last weekend and so many shops only sell sets now instead of individual things. I eventually found 6 in DD room
Reikiranf
When my friend's parents were getting new furniture, they moved her Dad's old chair and it made a funny noise & they found almost 20 pieces of cutlery in it, plus nail clippers, coins, pens, sweets & false teeth
Olly
Teaspoons here. I found two (and a potato peeler) when I dug out the compost heap ...

craftyhunnypie
Get a set of £1 shop teaspoons & put them in your sons / daughter stockings at Xmas. That will get them wondering!! Emma.x
LuckyChickenLover-
Our spoons go missing here I think they get chucked in the bin accidently sometimes. And don't even get me started on pens! Why is there NEVER a working pen in my house!?
The Dogmother
My cheap cutlery used to go missing when the Ex was still resident - he used to use it as tools when fixing his bike... in the kitchen I now have some lovely, inherited, mis-matched old cutlery, silver plate, knives with ivory handles, pretty dessert and cake forks. Under pain of death does any of that go missing On pens... at work, they always got stolen from my desk, so I took to using a green pen and they never went astray. Sam
And don't even get me started on pens! Why is there NEVER a working pen in my house!? So true! I usually end up finding an old blunt pencil. I know theres a spoon in the garage from mixing up the chickens porridge, and I'm sure theres a few in my room too Shh.. I'll put them back soon

Geoid
I usually end up finding an old blunt pencil. Ha ha story of my life. Use mechanical pencils and never have a blunt pencil ever again! I reckon lost cutlery goes to the same place as those odd socks.

Bramble
Socks and teaspoons here, too ... worrying thing is, I live alone, so if I haven't got them, who has?
Valkyrie
Teaspoons here. I found two (and a potato peeler) when I dug out the compost heap ... Ditto! At different times. But I have a feeling that spoons have also gone to the tip when the children used to eat yoghurt and threw the whole lot away - as I managed to rescue some on the odd occasion.
