Valkyrie
I have Knowles netting for my veggies - unless the fox is toothless, it isn't fox proof.

Daphne
Here's a new one on me. We all know cats bring in things which aren't dead. I have just been doing the hoovering (its not often I can say that) and I came across a bit of something, about 2 inches long. Then it moved. Cue a bit of a shriek. It turned out to be a bit of the tail from a lizard - which you may know is how they escape a predator, they can live without it. It must have just happened, as it moved for a minute or so, then stopped. It was just a reflex action, but even knowing what was going on, it still brought me up short! I haven't watched that GW yet, not sure I want to! 1
The Dogmother
A piece of a dinosaur! 😀 One of our old cats used to bring in newts from the neighbour's pond (long since filled in) and Rosie would call to me "Mum, Millie's brought in a dinosaur", s I had to rescue it and pop it back in next door's pond.

Alis girls
Hens never seek to amaze. Builders next door making a racket and OH went down to feed them. He called "helloooo" as no one in sight. Next 2 little heads popped round eglu door😂. Yesterday decided run needed a clean - went fed them and as its been so dry raked all the auboise etc to door so would be easy to bag up. Went indoors had a coffee very pleased with myself. Went back with OH to bag up stuff and my tidy pile of poop had gone🙄Yup girls not happy with my inteferance and had spread it all out again. 😂

The Dogmother
I think I have seen it all - but now you can get trainers with chickens on!
soapdragon
At least you can't get chickens with trainers on......................................or can you?
mullethunter
DM if you have a smartphone there’s a really cool app called iNaturalist. You take a photo of the plant and it gives you suggestions for what it could be - it’s right surprisingly often!

mullethunter
Ooh I’ve just screen grabbed your photo and put it in the app. Looks like it could be wild mustard - lucky you!
The Dogmother
Hey, clever you - that does look just like it. I will go and pinch a leaf when I let the dogs out in a minute and see if it smells of mustard. No idea where that came from!
The Dogmother
Went out to smell the leaves and I didn't think they smelled of mustard, but the plant does look like the one in that picture. It will be interesting to see it flower. Thank you for the suggestion of the app, now on my phone and will probably be used regularly.
Cat tails
I use PlantNet app and it told me it’s wild mustard too: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinapis_arvensis
The Dogmother
Thanks all. I have found another today too. The leaves didn't smell of mustard when I crushed one last night, but I'll try again today.... mystery solved and app downloaded.
Alis girls
I do that - see if a rogue plant grows into something I planted or not as case may be.
mullethunter
OK - on that topic then, I found a small tuber type thing in my shed so I put it in a pot of compost. I have no idea where it came from, but it’s turned into this. Is it a hosta? And on a totally different note, I wanted to eat my potato salad outside yesterday but ended up having to barricade myself inside the greenhouse!
