Terrible waste of life and so much anguish and grief for all those innocents. The world is, indeed, a worrying and frightening place. One can't help but wonder...where next?

I am an aetheist (even if I can't spell it!) but do wonder how, when all religions are supposed to preach tolerance and peace, we have come to this?

It is shocking and tragic beyond belief :( We are in France, there were police at the border but they were not stopping people. We had a minutes silence at the local running club this morning. I can't imagine the terror all these innocent civilians went through, waiting, you find yourself wondering about life and death at the most unlikely moments, far more than is normal. I have been particularly struck by the tricolours everywhere - they are up for Armistice Day, but they seem especially powerful right now.

My thoughts today.

It's never going to stop because it's something humans do. Wars and massacres and acts of extreme cruelty are a constant in our history. Now it's Isis, in a decade it'll be someone else.

It's nothing new and it's never going to stop. It's about power and controlling, sometimes under the guise of religion but always about control.

I think you're right PL.

I am sickened this morning to hear that France has launch retaliatory strike against Syria; I can understand their grief and need to be seen to be doing something, but surely two wrongs don't make a right, and the wiser man will turn the other cheek, tighten security and learn from this.

I am really not sure what to think about all this.

I agree lived through IRA. I fear a British town will be hit soon esp in run up to Christmas. Hopefully I will be wrong. I'm

Me too; I was working in Knightsbridge when Harrods was bombed. I went back to work the Monday afterwards.

We've decided at work to cancel out the evilness and bad karma by doing good deeds; we held a minute's silence at 11am, and then donated some much needed office equipment to a local charity. I feel that we all could work to counteract this badness.

Sorry I didn't finish my post  what a lovely idea. I found out on line the pregnant lady is safe and they have found the man who rescued her. Both OK. My OH also worked through IRA bombings and was in work when London was bombed some yrs back. By carrying on we are sticking up 2 fingers to these fools.
