Very impressive - that's a snow swan, not a chicken!

Our roads are fairly clear, although still a bit slushy. But the pavements are still thick, walking is treacherous. And I daren't move my car as it has a thick pile of snow around it and our close hasn't been cleared and is on a slope. I was meant to go into work this morning - but the authorities are saying avoid unnessecary travel and I hardly think a meeting is critical, so I took their advice  At least the school is open again. The nursery school children spent the morning playing out in the snow 8)

Well to-day is no better - its snowing again on top of what we already had and the wind is getting up so the snow is coming off the trees and bushes.

- I am now worried as I have to go to try tonight to get to my sons cat 6 miles away but over the glen and a huge hill - he is away to Teneriffe yesterday and he left the house wed night and left him food and loads of water but the food will run out to-day - its been 18 inches already yesterday and where he lives is usually worse than here so I am hoping my boss will take me this afternoon and we will bring him back to the vets where I work to stay till the snow goes or he comes back in 10 days - I was silly not to have taken him over before he went but.......... not had any snow then!. Poor Zeus - he is a bengal cat and unfortunately he does not get on with my two bengals either but he is lovely.

just come back from a walk, its very hard to walk in as the snow plough has pushed all the snow off the roads onto the pavements

These are from the fields behind our cul-de-sac. Oddly enough we can hardly open our back door because of the depth but the fields were not so deep..

More snow here today. We went to Rutland Water this morning as LSH has taken a day off and the boys schools were both closed. Would you believe it, there was TOO MUCH snow for sledging! They kept getting stuck in drifts  .

Town is treacherous again as the snow is settling on the roads and making them very slippery. The weekly market was cancelled and most of the local schools are closed again.

We're staying indoors  .

We've had a bit more snow this morning but it looks like the roads are a lot clearer than they were yesterday. I have to say, the novelty is starting to wear off now. At least DD's school has stayed open all week, i'm so impressed with the new headteacher. The old one wouldn't let the children out at breaktimes if it there was snow, in case a child got a snowball in their eye  but the new head has been giving the kids extra breaktimes and has been out there with them, helping with snowmen and taking pictures of their efforts

We haven't got any snow  We had about an inch on Monday and that's it. It did see a few snow flakes this morning but it only lasted a few seconds and reverted to rain again.

LMW and OH were going to Rutland Water & my Dad's this weekend but the sailing event has been cancelled due to the weather. Apparently Peterborough is really bad.

My folks in Herts had thunder this morning.

Banbury was buried under 8" of snow when we left for Yorks - had to dig the van out and have a shovel, carpet lengths and a blanket in the back of the van. Hardly any snow here in Yorks, but clear and very cold. Saw a lovely sunset on the way up though.

B&B is lovely but missing all my animals :(

Our road is now gritted and I may be tempted to drive. OH braved it before using a spade to remove snow making the wheels spin, hot water when that didn't work and some passing helpful teenagers who pushed :D It took 10 mins to go up hill a few metres and get to the passable bit.

It's only really our road, the others were fine

We're in the middle of having our kitchen done  the old one is in our back garden as the skip couldn't arrive. Luckily the workmen arrived and it is still going ahead.

I've dug out some of the area around the chicken run in the hope the chickens will come out as apparently Abbie pecked the snow earlier in the week and they decided it wasn't worth leaving the run. OH said they huddled together under the grub for a very long time yesterday and on another day peeped out of the eglu and decided against getting up

The chickens are freaking out the plasterers assistant. First he saw some eyes and was told it was a chicken. Then he was worried as a chicken kept staring at him :lol:

This morning well - its been snowing most of the night - the pergola (wire) in the back garden path with the clematis on has collapsed and I need to be a limbo dancer to get under it so had to go round the long path and through the plants to get to the chickens. The snow is over the wellies and is awful this morning. A tractor has been clearing our road and as we had dug our car out yesterday its now well and truly stuck in with 4feet of snow piled up behing it!. The girls are still not amused at all and just poked their noses out - the water in the glug was half frozen so will have to brave it soon to go and refill it and check it later as I broke the ice and took it out with my hands - they were so so cold when I came in - I walked over the fencing as it is so deep so the hend dont need to fly over it to-day!.

Will attempt photos again later but ti looks so so pretty if you dont have to go outside at all.

I will have to go into work ( next door) to feed the cat and if no-one in will take the phones for a while to ease the situation.

The tiny bit of snow we had the other day melted yesterday. We have had another snowflake depth of snow overnight. further inland it is a different story. I am so thankful now that the snow storms did not reach us although I would love to have just one snow day at home.

Ali not wanting to be selfish I would willingly swap you some snow for black roads to-day - its now windy and the snow is getting wet and heavy - the roads are passable only with care here but hey it will get better and we have plenty food in the freezers.

OH was stuck in Basingstoke last night as there was complete gridlock with most of the ringroad shut. We heard stories of people stuck for about three hours. He ended up walking a couple of miles so that I could pick him up.

This morning we have walked the four and a half miles into town to pick up his car and the going was pretty treacherous. It was quite pretty as well but I am pleased to be ack home.

We are supposed to be going up to Wimbledon tonight. Anyone round there can tell me what it is like??
