bluekarin
I made some drop scones for brunch as it is just so miserable here today. Went down well with the kids and the dog loved hers too Later I'll be making a lemon drizzle cake and a shepherds pie for dinner.
The Dogmother
Funny you should mention that Karin. I made lemon drizzle cake yesterday so that I had one to take to those friends. There's a variation, which I tried the other day - 'Mojito Cake'... it's the same thing made with limes and chopped mint leaves; totally delicious! chickencam
Looks tasty and very nutritious I have been making lots of veg based dishes this week, including a lovely curry with beetroot in. Beetroot and curry spices go very well together. OH has made some tasty Chelsea Buns this morning too, very nice after an early start. Daphne
Trying to move the fruit mountain which has appeared in the garden and on the table, yesterday I made a batch of peach jam and last night we had pork chops fried with a bit of onion, garlic and some sliced under-ripe peaches, then popped in the oven with some added water and a dash of vinegar to finish cooking and provide a gravy. In fact this meal had baked potatoes and a wodge of kale-type greens served with it - first autumnal meal of the year This morning I have made some spiced plum sauce - I thought it would turn out thick, but its thin, more of a dipping sauce. mullethunter
The apple tart James Martin made on Saturday Kitchen this week. It was really easy (did the apple purée in the microwave). Had it with plum sorbet I made last week.
chickencam
Lots of things involving tomatoes this week, tomato sauce to freeze, curry, tomato soup, potato and tomato gratin, pasta bake. We have a yummy apple and mincemeat steamed pud doing its thing in the steamer at the moment looking forward to tucking in soon.
Daphne
That tarte tat in looks seriously delicious I'd be ordering that if I saw it on a menu or in a shop It's absolutely my kind of pud
bluekarin
Yesterday I made a coffee, walnut and sultana loaf and a millionaires shortbread. I think I may have cooked the caramel for a wee bit too long as it is on the firm side A bonus in that it didn't melt apart in the kids lunch boxes today, but straight from the fridge ......let's says not for those with loose teeth. Then again, being so hard, I had to eat my bit very slowly
chickencam
Venison meatballs with tomato sauce, still with my own tomatoes, it was very tasty

mullethunter
Simple (but turned out one of the best yet) loaf of bread to have warm with home made lemon curd.
Daphne
Inspired by some talk of pumpkins in another thread I bought half of one at a market yesterday and we had roast pumpkin/garlic and pepper with feta cheese on top, and a bit of toast spread with the juices and chicken fat I'd used to roast the veg on it for some extra carb, with a pile of turnip tops as the greens. There is still loads of pumpkin which I can't fact today so tomorrow I'll make it into a risotto. Tonight is going to be home made pesto with a bit of chicken breast for some protein, and a salad Which bread recipe did you use? OH keeps threatening to make another sour dough starter, but hasn't. Its a 30 min round trip for a loaf so we do use the breadmaker quite often, but I prefer oven baked bread.
mullethunter
The BBC bread in 4 steps one. I couldn't believe it came out so well considering how basic it is. I added a couple of tablespoons of bran and one of wheat germ to the flour

Daphne
It looks really professional. I will try it out and see. We aren't having pesto and chicken Its pouring with rain so I don't feel like a pesto and the chicken has turned out to be a pork fillet. You never know what you are going to find in a freezer do you
clucker1
Slow cooked leg of lamb http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1094/sevenhour-lamb which was absolutely delicious and so very very easy! Made it with red wine and in the slow cooker. Also browned the leg as per a comment and did it in the oven. Saved me woman handling it! Space Chick
Last month, we went to Manchester House. A fine dining restaurant in the centre of Manchester. We had the taster menu at the time and the stand out course for us was the white chocolate and truffle risotto with pan seared scallops. Well, I managed to get a second hand copy of the head chefs recipe book and it was in there So tonight I made it: Very delicious, but also very rich. And not a cheap dinner either as blinking heck, truffles are eyewateringly expensive
cloud
Very delicious, but also very rich. And not a cheap dinner either as blinking heck, truffles are eyewateringly expensive I've only had truffles once and I was not that impressed. Are they the 'Emperors new clothes' of food, or am I just not getting them. Plate looks amazing though. I very impressed, and jealous, and now feeling just a little hungry. Space Chick
I've loved truffles for years and they've been used in fine dining for years too. However, last night was the first time I'd cooked with actual truffles... Previously I'd only used a bit of truffle oil. They do have that weird sweetness that some people don't like!
