Cat tails
Did Halloween in my street tonight. Was a success! Handed out loads of biscuits and Leentje chicken helped handing them out too! My mom made some extra special treats for the older kids: chocolate covered brussels sprouts!
Groovychook
Thank you for your good wishes. We're home! They let us out last night and we've had the best nights sleep. He's doing really well and has been prescribed a tapering dose of salbutamol over the next few days. Such a relief to be home, safe & sound
Grandmashazzie
Great news Groovychook, such a worry when they are unwell.
mullethunter
Groovy chook that's good to hear. Bet you're both exhausted. DM and Cattails what fantastic pumpkins - mine has a chicken but it's rubbish!
Cat tails
Give him extra cuddles and chocolate! Found the cat one online and it turned out much better than expected!
The Dogmother
sorry, should have explained, that isn't my pumpkin, although 'here's one we made earlier' some years back actually....
mullethunter
Now mine looks even MORE rubbish by comparison! We have a running joke that every animal I ever draw / make looks like a dog (unless it's supposed to be a dog) - my chicken doesn't look like a dog but I think it's more like some kind of dinosaur Han a chicken
The Dogmother
It took blooming ages and I haven't done one since as it was such a faff!
Cat tails
The cat took a while too, but most time went into removing the inside as it wasn't nowhere ripe... and managed to cut myself twice... Did learn that it's no use trying to maul the knife through in one go, but go a bit deeper everytime. First I just traced the outline wit the tip of the knife, only cutting through the peel as it were.
Lewis
Love the pumpkins! Halloween here (Slovakia) is more a celebration and remembrance of the dead. Lots of candles and fake flowers lit around cemeteries, all very pretty. What's in the jars on the stairs CT?
Cat tails
Grasshoppers (the BIG ones) and crickets. Kids loved them! Crickets are now being fed to the chickens. (I'm rather done with their chirping right now...) Grasshoppers will feature in the lessons of my biology colleague at school and have been transferred to a large fauna box. Although I doubt the grasshoppers were very fresh... as I already had 2 casualties and only bought them this weekend.
patsylabrador
Groovychook, I just saw the posts about your son. Glad you're back home and improving. How old is he? Changing the subject enormously.....I've got one of those x10 makeup mirrors. That's not a very nice place to be! Horror show every morning. Groovychook
Groovychook, I just saw the posts about your son. Glad you're back home and improving. How old is he? Thank you He's 3 and a half. He's almost back to normal although still catching up on lost sleep. He went back to preschool for a couple of hours this morning. It's amazing how quickly they bounce back... and scary how fast they can deteriorate. I'm hoping that we'll be illness free for a while now. He's already had Campylobacter and Hand Foot & Mouth since the beginning of September Changing the subject enormously.....I've got one of those x10 makeup mirrors. That's not a very nice place to be!Horror show every morning. Ooh, I don't like the sound of those! There are bonuses to having poorer eyesight these days
chickencam
Poor little man, his immune system is being given a real work out . On the positive side though it is all helping to build strong immunity for the future.
Grandmashazzie
American election. For someone who doesn't tend to watch news much. News is on in background. In the whole of the enormous country of America are those the best two? My goodness, words fail me.
Cat tails
Same here. Where are all the young ambitious people? Orange Trump is 70 and Hillary is 68. Nothing against people of that age! But they should just go and enjoy their pensions. Trump will be 74 at the end of the term if he manages to fool enough people. mullethunter
I agree Grandmashazzie. As someone on the news said is morning maybe Michelle Obama will be next - they may as well have a royal family! I'm almost holding my breath to see what happens on Tues / Wed
The Dogmother
I can't bear to watch; it's like a bad road accident in slow motion. I wouldn't trust either of them with an empty brown bag, let alone the future of most of the first world!

Sil-El
I agree completely. They're both awful candidates I am trying to stay away from news channels for a while until all the fuss has died down, but somehow I don't think it's going to be that easy
The Dogmother
I just fail to understand how a seemingly educated nation can choose such ill-suited people. The whole razzmatazz of the campaign makes me feel ill too - OK, so most politics is essentially corrupt, and based on thinly veiled fibs, but this really takes the biscuit. mullethunter
From what we were shown in the media, there seems to have been absolutely no talk of policies at all in the last few weeks - just been entirely personality based
