The pale background was the main reason i don't like it, its too white and hurts my eyes

 

It's given me a headache as well and I've only been on five minutes. Sorry , as I know how much work goes into sorting out a forum.

If you're seeing any of the posts as having a white background, you likely have the brightness/contrast on your monitor set too high - they're supposed to be on an alternating light grey/green and medium grey/green background.

 

Most LCD monitors come with the brightness set at 100% as default - it gives them an initial 'wow' factor, but will hurt your eyes and make everything look washed-out if you leave it there! Try turning it down to 50% - it may seem quite dark initially but you'll quickly adapt, and save your eyes doing it!

I have the brightness set low anyway - I'm a Gremlin and don't like bright lights! - I'm still finding it a lot brighter than before.......I'll have a tinker and see if I can change it a bit.

I prefer the omlet-highcontrast setting to the omlet silver

but I don't like this style of forum there's one or 2 others that use a similar layout and I don't find them very friendly on the eyes

I still hate it = I have turned my power saver on the laptop to saving and its dimmer but still much too bright - all the other things I use are fine so I am not changing any settings on my computer just for here - I have sore eyes and a sore head - sorry but feedback was asked for :oops

 

 

Edited to say I prefer omlet high one instead of the silver as its blue and although stuff on wrong side of page its easier on the eyes but must admit I hate forums like these ones.

I have been rubbing my eyes, this white is just too harsh for me, pleeeeeeease turn it down I would hate to stay away from my favourite site, but this is really hurting my eyes.

I've just switched onto the high contrast version and it's totally solved my problems with the very white background however all the avatars and usernames are on the right at least at the moment for me which i don't like but i'm sure i'll get use to that and i'm no longer getting a headache using the forum. Would still like to see a key of all the topic symbols though

I love the new look... it's much cleaner and I find the pale colours much more calming.

I like most things about the new look but I find it hard to distinguish between the symbol colours for new posts and old too. I think it's because it's made up of narrow lines on the white background...

 

Have fiddled with contrast and am trying to get used to it but am tending not to linger like I used too!!

Its a bit better with the contrast turned down but I do agree that the 'front' pages are hard to read and not user friendly although I realise that they have been 'improved' to make them more user friendly.

 

In a months time we'll all be so used to it we'll be wondering why we've all been complaining.

Reminder - if you go to User Control Panel -> Board preferences -> you can now select Omlet_highcontrast which seems to be better for those having trouble with the new format

Omletsilver-highcontrast is so much better on my netbook which I haven't been able to use for the Omlet forum since it changed. I will see if it makes a difference on the big PC later. Thank you
