Happy Christmas everyone!

Recommended Posts

However you choose to spend your day, I hope it's peaceful and spent with the people you love - Christmas is not an easy time for everyone, I know, especially those who've had sickness or bereavement or family problems.

I'll be getting up in a minute to sit on the sofa with my sister so we can open our stockings together (we're 54 and 65, by the way! ). Later we'll go down to the village pub with her husband and daughters. There will be some memories of family Christmases when we were young which were very different, but times change and we have made new traditions. I hope yours is a happy one.

Gelukkig kerstfeest!

I'll be opening some presents in a minute! (With the cat... ) and have dinner at my moms. Then on Second Christmasday (we don't do boxing, we have TWO Christmasdays!) I'll host dinner for my mom and some friends with a turkey and all sorts of other goodies!

A later start to Christmas day here, although YS was awake at 5, but went back to sleep, we have all just opened our stockings. The days of very early Christmas mornings with excited little children have all but gone!

Happy Christmas to you all enjoy whatever way you celebrate.

A merry Christmas to you all - just up and about to put the turkey in the oven then shower and we, hubby, son and I (plus the cats!) will then open our gifts when son decides to surface - although in his 30's likes a long lie in!!. Will skype with daughter and her family and my grandson later in the day I expect lots of excitement there. Have a lovely day and a peaceful and happy New Year 2015 when it comes.

Happy Christmas everyone, wherever you are and whatever you are doing! Quiet day here in the Franklin household tho spent the trad hour or so building some Lego model which will, no doubt, be in bits again by the New Year!

Bob the hamster loved his sprouty stocking and the two boys are enjoying their presents (YS dressed as Jack Sparrow ALL day!)

OH dealing with the lurking turk whilst I try and collect all the discarded wrapping paper together for the recycling bin! I know we should all be out for a healthy walk.....maybe tomorrow :wall:

Happy New Year to to all my lovely Omlet friends....the forum is brilliant and I feel that I know you all very well tho have only met three of you so thanks everyone for being just brill and a source of great wisdom over the last year 8)

Look who India 99 saw last night.

Merry Christmas everyone.

 That made me laugh - I have been doing a bit of work for friends this week, and had 3 of those choppers in the hanger behind me... perfect!

We've had a lovely, if quiet day with my folks, just the 4 of us; my mother is too ill to go anywhere, so Rosie and I went down there and I cooked a small lunch. Makes a difference from cooking for 10 at my place  It was a lovely day with loved ones, and touching to see how good Rosie was with her grandma, even helping with the not-so-nice bits.

Peace and tranquillity to all of you, and I hope that you get to have a nice easy day tomorrow as well.

Merry Christmas to all.

We had a nice quiet day, just my mum and one of my sisters over for lunch. Went better than expected I was worried my mum would find it difficult as 2 years ago we'd had a lovely Christmas with 13 family members at mine which turned out to be just a few months before my dad died. I think it would have been difficult if there's been lots of us as it would have been too similar but not. One brother plus family and other sister over tomorrow which I'm looking forward to. Two sets of friends over the following day which will be unexpectedly difficult as a close friend of both of theirs died earlier this month :(

A poignant reminder to make every effort to see friends and family.

A very belated Happy Christmas from me and mine :D

Dad sang along to Andre Rieu  , cats got high on catnip toys and dogs went absolutely potty over their antler chews  .

Me? I took the dogs for a walk in our field, ate and drank to the brink of exploding, and spent the evening on the sofa watching telly and being a cushion for dogs exhausted by their antlers. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute :D!

Merry Christmas one and all,

Christmas morning my three kids partners came for breakfast then went to respective parents house for dinner, OH mt and the three kids decamped to parents for Christmas lunch with another few friends so that made 11.

I have everyone coming to me for Boxing Day lunch so should be 13, in the evening we are having mother few guests so a pretty busy one.

I love seeing the interaction between my kids, their grandparents and my brother. My dad, who some of you may already know isn't well and to see the pride bursting out of him when he is watching my three kids banter and chat together is so touching. It may sound very cliche but I really do pinch myself sometimes and dispite the hard times we have had over the last few years, I really am a very lucky girl.

Unfortunate dampener for me this year. Mum got a serious chest infection in the home and is really not very well. OH'S mum started handing out rubbish presents again and I know this sounds bad of me but she usually gives us £200 each to use on what we like. OH got that. I got £80! My brother did his usual mucking about and said he had flu which he doesn't. He told OH he might not be over for lunch then changed his mind at the last minute and I had to tell him OH had not done enough veg. Get back and even though he was angry at being mucked about, OH had done enough second guessing brother but of course brother didn't come.

I guess we all get them but bloomin' horrible to have a naff Christmas. Plus the girls seem to be laying softies at the moment :(

Sorry to hear about your mum, PD, hope she gets better soon.

Had a nice Christmas morning, just the 4 of us, opened presents then went up to Perth to the in-laws for lunch, which was lovely.

Went round to my mum's in the evening to prepare her tea - she'd spent the day with her carer/friend but was very grumpy. She is totally incapable (even in a good mood) of showing any of the normal responses when receiving presents. We looked at the presents she'd received but she didn't have a good word to say about any of them. Didn't even say a basic thanks when I gave her ours.

She's coming to ours at 1pm today (it's her 90th). I hope she's in a better mood or it'll be a long day  . I wonder if we'll get a thank you or any sign of appreciation for her birthday present.

Belated Christmas greetings to all Omleteers from me!

After moving house on the 11th, we were expecting nothing, house had a broken shower, no electric cooker point, was more than grubby and they left us a full wheely bin with a week to go until the next collection!

However, we have managed to get shower and cooker sorted, plus a tv aerial, rubbish collected and installed several matching kitchen cabinets in the very badly laid out kitchen, phew!

We ended up having a wonderful day, no expectations so it was just great.

Oh, and now we have snow falling heavily and sticking!

Happy Christmas - nice day with family and then a lie in today. OH has man flu - yeah right  doesnt stop him munching choccie bics by the ton. Watrched Downton and caught up with Call the midwife today - feel teary and happy. Always feel nostalgic - difficult watching loved ones ageing and like many not knowing how many more Christmas's together the oldies have - but onwards and upwards - I think the alcohol has made me a bit morose. I think an alkie free day tommorow.

It has been 'different' this year; I am more used to all the family here, and cooking for the hordes, but I seem to have spent this Christmas on the road, travelling from one 'God's Waiting Room' to another :( A bit depressing, but lovely to see them.

Rosie has a weekend job at B&Q, so she bought me some lovely presents with her own money this year, and they were very thoughtful. My dad (ever one for useful gifts) gave me a new hose reel, which I desperately need. I just hope that next Christmas is more settled, although it is inevitable that we may be minus a couple of family members :(

Well, I'm glad to say Mum was on quite good form :D . Picked her up at 1pm and took her back to mine. We had soup, sandwiches and some birthday cake (made this morning!) then watched The Lavender Hill Mob then back to back David Attenborough 8) . Ordered a Chinese takeaway for tea and took her home at 7.45. She really seemed to enjoy herself.

And she seemed genuinely pleased with the bird table we gave her - she watches the birds from her chair and always complains that the big birds get all the bread so now the little ones can have their share too :) .
