Can't imagine being up at the same time as you.....last night we put a newly purchased wool blanket on the bed over a thin duvet (handmade up a local mountain, its sheep colour) and had the cosiest night's sleep, I really really really really didn't want to get up

Enjoy your new sofa :D

Had a really scary moment today. Went to the bank to withdraw funds from the cash machine. Couldnt remember PIN number  Have had the same number for years, use it daily, but tonight I forgot it! It did come back to me after a while and after entering the wrong number a couple of times but this was a real scare :( Why??

Had a really busy weekend but not really got anything done!

We had a training day for new members of the Falconry club yesterday so I was there most of the day then went out for a friends birthday - I'm on a diet again so didn't drink and resisted pizza when everyone got 3 slices on the way home!

Today I was back down at Falconry fitting new equipment to Frantiska my Harris' Hawk - she ripped her new leather jesses (which go on her legs) so we've had to make some new-new ones with thicker leather.

Walked the clinics resident dogs in the park and then came back to watch Supervet!

Should really get some studying done...

Had such a weird thing happen the other evening...

I was busy cooking and heard an ebay alert on my phone. I decided on the spur of the moment to bid on a gilet for my little boy. I was rushing, placed a low bid thinking that I wouldn't be too fussed if I won it or not. I did, paid instantly and thought no more about it.

A couple of minutes later, the phone rang and a very excited voice asked if I'd just made a payment via paypal. I thought it was a scamming call at first but confirmed that I had. She then asked if I could confirm my name and said that she'd received the payment notification and noticed that we shared the same surname . Doesn't sound so amazing until I tell you that my OH & I combined our names when we married 23 years ago. We have never come across anyone else with the same surname before. I've googled and nothing has ever come up.

Anyway, we were both flabbergasted by this because she'd searched for the name before too and drawn a blank.

We were chatting away when she said that her husband C--- had thought it was some sort of scam when the payment came through. My jaw dropped... her husband has the same name as mine... spelt the same way- not such a common name either. What are the chances of that? I had goosebumps!

I could so easily have not bothered to bid(or not won the item) and would never have realised that there was another family out there with the same name.

We've promised to keep in touch. It would be lovely to meet up sometime!!

I did say to OH when I'd recovered from the shock, that it's a good job he spends all his time at home and doesn't travel much or I might have thought he was a bigamist with a secret family

The parcel arrived this morning with a lovely handmade card with our name collaged to look like a tree and a sweet message :D

Amazing things happen through the slightest of chances :D

Good news F!

I need to check out the other-cars thing on my insurance, I'm unsured on all the cars at home but never checked the part about other cars.

Had a great weekend at Oktoberfest :D We got a steam train up to where it was held with everyone dressed up in their lederhosen and had a great time

Check your certificate of insurance, it will say something like: allowed to drive any other vehicle with the owner's permission. Mine says "Any motor vehicle the property of the insured or in his custody or control".

OH went without a shower for some weeks when he broke his collarbone and had various wounds and dressings down his right side. Strip washes at the sink and using the bidet (or a hand held shower attachment) for feet. He managed most of it on his own just using his left arm, although it was a bit slow. I just had to wash his hair, his back and under his right armpit so your son's blushes might be spared :?:

I feel your pain Ali - when Rosie had her accident, and was hardly mobile/in lots of pain, I had to shower her in the walk-in disabled shower in the hospital, then help her again at home. Poor thing was like your son.... at that age when they are easily embarrassed.

Yep, wrap one of those thin, light microfibre towels round it, then the plastic bag. Otherwise, the fracture clinic will usually give you one of those shower condom-like things to put over it. Hope he's better soon.

ANH, hope your botty isn't too bruised.

Radio 2 said this morning that people with a warped sense of humour were more likely to suffer a rare form of dementia. Well 35yrs in NHS has made me very warped.

ES came home this weekend and reported that the hoover they have in their house doent work. They have obviously been poking things down tube in case of blockage but didn't think to see if bag was full! In fact I think he thought hoover monster ate the muck as didn't seem to know about hoover bags. And this is the next generation. I think they will disappear under a pile of dirt cos they didn't change hoover bag. Joys of motherhood.

Will bear that in mind Lewis - thanks

Shopped for winter coat for OH yesterday - what a performance. This man has no interest in clothes but wanted something warm as hes a cold mortal (being of Cypriot origin) he picked a coat with a fake fur trim which hes promptly removed. So much messing about with it. We've had a handlebar moustache, an Amish impression and mum needing a bikini wax (i will leave it there) and putting it next to the cats to see their reaction ( none too impressed) We've had "alas poor Basil (our cat) I knew him well" the list goes on. Much rolling around laughing at our own jokes. I think any woman who wants to spend her life with my sons will have to be a loony just to fit in. Bonkers - you bet.
